My thoughts exactly! Im curious, by using the db25 do i gain outputs or do they share with the relayed outputs connected via ribbon cable to acorn?martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 7:30 pm You can use the DB25 cable with flying leads. Provided you connect the leads CORRECTLY
Suggest you make a small spreadsheet or chart with the DB25 pin number and color and match it to the Acorn Function on its DB25 and then a column to where you will land those wires on the drives. To make sure you keep things straight.

The inputs and outputs are shared by Acorn. However, you gain access to the PWM pin on the DB25 which is Output 2 DB25 pin 14 which is NOT available on the Acorn board itself. When you use this pin for PWM, you can not use Acorn's Output 2. PWM is used primarily for laser control see:msauto wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 7:37 pmMy thoughts exactly! The laser doc is really good! Kudo's to "490" for putting all this clear and useful information into one place.fyi.. related: the laser doc was just improved link is here.

Might want to also place a 'heads up' on SWord's thread:https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=5431
It is probably the most helpful place to go for a user new to lasers with Centroid Acorn.
