Need Help to Finalize Calibration for Retrofit CNC 4th Axis Router

Post by Boatwrights Workshop »

I just swapped out my Richauto B58 HDMI controller to the Acorn. I have Blue Elephant 1318-4 (1300mm*1800mm with 4th B-axis rotary). My machine is equipped with (5) Leadshine Easy Servo 863HBM70H-BZ-1000 with (5) Leadshine H2-2206 Drivers. The ballscrew is an Hiwin 2505 ( 25mm Dia 5mm Pitch) and 1:1 pulley on Zed axis. XY axis has 18 teeth on motor and 90 teeth on pulley (90:18=5:1 ratio), the worm gear is 20:1. My old specs from the Richauto B58 controller was given:

X and Y: 104.37 pulse/mm
Z: 200.0 pulse/mm
B: 111.113 pulse/mm

Consequently, I have attempted to follow the videos, read the forums, manuals, calculator and etc. However, I am still not tuned as the machine should. I tried air cutting existing files and they are to large and exceeds Z limits. I have set my steps/revolutions to 4000 in Acorn, by default from factory they are set the same in Leadshine drivers. I just can not pin point my drive ratio. Any insight will be greatly appreciated? Photos attached

I can't promise that my settings are correct. Work still in progress to setup.

please use a google PHOTO album. the drive link provided does not have access granted so i can't see the photos.

i assume this a rack and pinion machine for X and Y axis? what do you mean by worm gear? do you mean rack and pinion?

You need to do the Coarse and Fine DRO adjustments. Both procedures and some required reading can be found here in this topic. There are links to download the Coarse and Fine DRO procedures as well.

And post a copy of a current report so we can see your settings.

Sorry about the error. Yes, R&P setup with a direct drive for the B axis. I will setup the Google album. I have my calibration issue resolved. The Leadshine manual indicated the drives were set by default at 4000 step/Rev but the manufacturer set them at 2000 step/rev. That just threw everything off. Now I just need to double check B axis rotation for calibration and I'm ready to run some test pieces. Thank you

Hi

I have a BE Cnc and am thinking of converting it to acorn. I am a novice at all this and was wondering if you have any suggestions on where to start? Any videos or articles you may recommend
Thanks.

start by taking photos of the machine and posting them to a photo album so we can see what you have and we will guide you from there.
