Keith,
Are there any special instructions to install the latest update? Or always safe to make a full folder copy?

Thanks in advance,

PFM Dave

The new install and update from older versions of CNC12 instructions are on the very same page you downloaded the software from.

Hello Keith,

Just installing v4.82 on my mill which has a very early Acorn controller with no problems so far.
Will update as I progress.

Next job will be my Lathe with a one year old Acorn.

I have a spare new Acorn which is currently employed for playing with the new CNC 12 options.

Based on your comment on five years of free updates (which is admirable and says a lot about Centroids commitment to DIY users),
Should I buy a licence for my spare Acorn before possible price increase or wait for new super CNC 12 V5 in the near future?
I can't see the forest for the trees, should read "I can't see trees when I'm in the forest"

thanks for reporting back and your comments.

the upcoming v5.0 will be a free update for all users coming from CNC12 v4.xx as well.

looking forward in time, as we add more features, there will be a small charge to update CNC12 to the next major step probably sometime in 2024.
some of the major software projects we have in the plans are: CNC12 Screen Set Builder, new G code backplot graphics, NC simulator, CNC12 emulator, Rewrite/modernize Intercon Mill, Lathe and add Router.

License files are 'lifetime'. meaning that they always work with the current release of CNC12 on the purchase date. so for example if you buy a license file today it will always work the v4.82, essentially you could run the machine on v4.82 and the license until you wear the machine out. :-) License files do not expire , they are not a subscription, they do not call home. That being said the price of a license file will most likely adjust with inflation over time.

recently added to the AcornSix web page.
* Note: Pro, Ultimate and Ultimate Plus License files are "lifetime licenses" and will always work with the CNC12 version number they were sold with for example, any license purchased now will work with the current beta (v4.99) and then also work with the to be released official version of AcornSix CNC12 which will be numbered v5.0 and then any subsequent v5.xx releases. Centroid License files are not a subscription, it doesn't expire, you own it, does not require a internet connection, it doesn't call home. They are tied to the Centroid CNC hardware (AcornSix board) not the CNCPC. CNCPC and PC hardware changes will not effect the Centroid license file, you can install CNC12 and the License file on as many PC's as you like as the license files are paired to the Centroid CNC Hardware not the PC.

There are some great improvements to 4.82 not seen before but one I really am happy about is probably one of the least talked about. I've been cutting some 5x12 sheets of HDPE lately with a lot of nested parts in the sheet and I'm just blown away at the new speed of the "graph" function.

Thanks to the hard working team at Centroid for this AMAZING hardware and software package that just keeps getting better and better.

Mirko wrote: Wed Mar 29, 2023 3:48 am We have problem with the Acron CNC control board. Finally, we managed to install your system on our CNC machine.

We encountered a weird issue when all three axes of CNC move at the same time (3D machining). If we machine in 2D which means only 2 axes are being used at the time, the issue doesn’t occur. When we move one axis manually, this phenomenon also doesn’t occur.
This problem during 3D machining also occurs only on X and Z axis, Y axis works perfectly fine.
When the axis is running on a high signal suddenly it gets a direction signal peak in low, that means particular axis tries to move in opposite direction and back to original direction it supposes to move.
This issue creates inaccuracies in parts as machine doesn’t register when it moves in wrong direction. The impulses are for tiny fraction of time that altogether we get may be 1mm inaccuracy in whole job. These impulses are also irregular in the manner of when they occur and in amplitude.

For your reference I have attached the videos. You will get a separate download link (crypt share) to download the videos. Signals on the oscilloscope you see is of Z axis.

We also tried by separating the centroid electronics form the machine. That meanes the ground of the centroid electronics is separate from the ground of the rest of the periphery e.g., computer, motors etc...

Could you please help me to solve the problem? Or let me know where shall I write to get the help?

We have your first generation of Acron board in one of our CNC machines and it works perfectly till the date.
please post in the main Acorn support forum.
post a fresh report.zip, make a photo album and populate it with photos and video that show the machine, the electronics cabinet and provide as much details as possible. and we will be happy to help you out.
