Bed mill servo and scale summing on z for manual quill feed
Just starting on an Acorn six conversion and wondering if it is actually possible to run a scale on the quill that sums with the z servo , if so would it be treated as a separate axis and also need a home position?

Re: Bed mill servo and scale summing on z for manual quill feed
yes Z axis summing is a feature of AcornSix. use the CNC12 parameters to set it up.
its been a centroid feature all the way back to the CNC7 days, so here is the document that describes how to set it up.

and reference the mill operator manual as well. starting on page 296

we will add this into the Wizard at some point to make thing a bit more user friendly to setup but for now you'll have to use the CNC12 parameters/config menus to setup.

Re: Bed mill servo and scale summing on z for manual quill feed
Awesome thanks Keith
this works like any other axis , and should have a home switch ?

Re: Bed mill servo and scale summing on z for manual quill feed
A manual quill scale does not need a home switch.
Generally, home is set where it sits at power-up, which is presumed to be the top hard stop.

Ups, did not notice the manual quill, and overlooked that M26 needs no switch.....
