Prox Help

Post by Mmarmino »

Hello all,

I need some help wiring my proxes for my mill build. I have done the bench test, spindle test, have my estop wired, and steppers wired. I have three proxes that I'm not exactly sure if they'll work. I tried to wire using the S14955.DWG diagram. These proxes have an indicator light that does light up when placed next to metal, but wont stop the z stepper movement when activated. all help is appreciated!

What voltage do you have them connected to?
When triggered does the inputs LED change state?
When the light is on, read the voltage between the signal out line and the V+ AND V- lines. Which one reads close to operating voltage?
How do you have the input configured on the Wizard? Home, limit or Home/Limit?

I have it connected to the 24 volt and yes when its triggered and the led lights up I'm showing 24v dc. I haven't done anything in the wizard yet so I'm pretty sure thats the issue!

Are they NPN or PNP switches? They have to be NPN to work with Acorn.

24vdc from the trigger wire to V+ or V-??? It will be one or the other

Thanks I got them going and setup. All three axis are homing as advertised. Now on to wiring up the VFD to the acorn. Already got questions, my terminals don't exactly match the acorn vfd schematic. Specifically the vfd common coming from the vfd to relay 4,5, and 6.

Here's a page from the VFDs manual.
20221126_132054.jpg
So..from the

1. relay board 4,5,6(vfd common to terminal 7 (ground)?

2. Acorn H8 AN GND to VFD terminal 4 (10v IN)?

3. Acorn H8 AN OUT to VFD terminal 1 (12v OUT)?

I'm not sure about the last two on the acorn schematic..

The +24vdc coming of H4...where to on the VFD?
The Com from H9...where to on the VFD?
