Communication Error after following TB #270

Post by legacytorch »

My acorn board stopped communicating with the computer. I have tried it on 3 different computers, one of them with a completely fresh install of the latest windows 10. I have followed the instructions of tech bulletin #270 and my problem is not resolved. I am using the ethernet cable supplied by centroid. I have even removed the beagle bone from the acorn board to isolate the problem. If I do a ping test immediately after powering on the beagle bone the ping is successful and I can ping it multiple times and each time it will work. If however I run CNC12 it ends with a 452 error and closes the program. I will then try to do a ping test but it will fail each time consistently. If I do a power reset of the beagle bone the ping will work again. The board has power light on D1 and a heart beat on D2 but it also has a solid non blinking light on D3. I have reflashed the beagle bone and then it is only the power and heartbeat lights until I try to run CNC12 it attempts to reboot the mpu and then the other light comes on and the program fails.

Is my board dead?

when you flash the BBG you are installing "base" firmware to get cnc12 to boot with it. when CNC12 starts.. CNC12 will immediately install the latest firmware to the BBG. this is normal. "the MPU rebooting message" is CNC12 rebooting the BBG after the new firmware has been installed.

with the BBG installed on the Acorn, nothing connected to it but power.. do you have a heartbeat?

review this post which has more info in addition to TB270

I was able to get ahold of another acorn board to test on my computer. Without changing any computer settings the second board works perfectly. I can now confirm that my beagle bone board is dead.

you can install a new BBG if you think it is bad.
install it and reflash it following the debrick instructions.
