Greetings all,

I am upgrading my router from regular steppers to closed loop steppers. I purchase them through Automation Technologies. They have their logo on them but they are Leadshine products. This is a link to the units I am using...

The documentation states it can run at 200k =KHz so that shouldn't be a problem.
Using the Wizard, I used the Leadshine CS-D1008 as a baseline starting point. Initially, I couldn't set the Frequency above 100k, but eventually there were more options available (I believe that happened when I swtiched from 1600 to 3200 micro stepping). I selected 200k, rebooted everything, tried to move things and the axes don't move, but the position display does show movement. There is no sound coming from the motors. If I switch the frequency back to 100k, things operate as normal.

Seems like the problem is internal to the centroid but that is just a guess.

Anyone have any ideas?

Most of the Leadshine clones state in the manual that they can run “up to” 200k but that’s usually not the case and they should be set at 100k. There’s nothing wrong with the Acorn, it’s a limitation of the drive.

Yes, but LeadShine makes 3 grades of products, and the only way I know to ensure that I have the best version with the best components is to buy genuine branded LeadShine. The vast majority of rebranded LeadShines are selling the lower grade products.

Yes....in differential (double pulse or CW/CCW) mode pulse duration (and an equal off time) of 2.5us will work, but in step and direction mode a 5us pulse and 5us setup (delay) is required. 5 + 5 = 10. 1,000,000 divided by 10 = 100K steps per second

You need to read the whole manual to figure it out. And they dont make it easy!

I have a couple of CL57T drivers made by Leadshine for Stepperonline.

The older Version V3 runs save on 200khz, the new V4 on 400khz

That pulse rate shouldn't limit you. On a router with drives set to 3200 (highest recommended) @ 1000 ipm rapids and a 1.5 rev/in ratio:
3200 x1000 x 1.5 = 4,800,000 ppm /60 = 80,000 pulses/sec. So 1250 is max rapid rate. Double if you set to 1600 microstepping

On a mill with 5mm screw pitch (5.08 rev/in) the max speed would be 369 ipm @ 3200 microsteps and double that at 1600. Faster than most screws like to turn (~1875 rpm)

From my testing, CL steppers with 1000 Line Encoder performs best set to 4000 pulse. With 2:1 HTD reduction and HiWin ball screws I have a position deviation less then +-0.002mm at rapid speeds.

As Gary stated, this is not going to limit your ability to cut anything and you wont even notice the difference between the two settings. My second router was a Chinese retrofit with plain old steppers set to 1600 steps/rev with 100k step rate and it was an extremely precise machine that I cut aluminum with.

You want a higher step rate? "Step" up higher to servos. Pun intended. :D

Hey guys,

The router is 20" x 40" so the "limit" really isn't that bad. With my ballscrews having .2" pitch, and the stepper to screw ratio reducing screw by 25%, the max rapid is 275 IPM. Prior to installing the closed loop steppers, the best I could get was 175 IPM with a .7 accel rate and that was questionable at best. With the configuration I have, I can get .0001" resolution and 275 IPM rapids now - over all the I like the improvements made with the closed loop steppers.

Somehow I messed up the feedhold functionality - it no longer does anything so that is what I am working on now. Diagnostics show the input changing for the physical button, the VCP button also seems to be "broken". Have not done much configuration stuff on this machine in about 2 years so it is slow re-learning all the details.

For your feedhold issue, are you talking a remote button that is set up with an input set to "FeedHold2"? If so, and that button is NO, the input needs to be set as NC. If it's not, that generally causes the state that you described.
