Without the proper manual we are all just guessing.

That makes sense. Mine came with a paper manual and no links. It is remarkably hard to find data on this thing which is, I suppose, a byproduct of buying a Chinese spindle.
However, after a bit of searching I have found a PDF that I believe matches what came with my VFD.

Re: Huanyang VFD Settings - Trying to understand.
First, did you do the "spindle bench test" per the install manual? Are your voltages correct?
Attached is your spreadsheet with an additional column with the settings I'd use to start with. These are based on the manual you uploaded so use them at your own risk. Confirm your manual matches with the one you uploaded for each numerical setting.
If I don't understand what a setting does I default to the default setting in the manual. This is a safe bet. You can always change it later.

Re: Huanyang VFD Settings - Trying to understand.
Thanks so much!!
At the moment I am not connected to the Acorn. I am just using the front panel of the VFD to start/stop and control RPM. I am using the build in potentiometer to control RPM.
However, I have done the spindle bench test. I even brought out my Fluke True RMS meter with 3 digit resolution. <Smile>
I am just making sure the spindle is working and set up before I change the setting to be run from the 0-10V.
Thanks again.

Re: Huanyang VFD Settings - Trying to understand.
I just did a little more testing.
Using the pot on the control panel, the VFD only reaches 16020 RPM. Looking at the Hz it is at 267. This makes sense since 267 X 60 (mains frequency) = 16020.
So, theoretically if the Hz would go to 400 then the RPM would get to 24000. 400 x 60 = 24000
So any ideas why the maximum freqency I can get out of the VFD is 267?
I just did a factory reset and re-entered the values. About the only thing different from Shawn's values is listed below.
I left PD142 at 9. 20 makes sense but most forums say 9 for some reason and I wanted to be safe until I could be sure
I left PD144 at 3000. Again, 24000 makes sense... but the max setting is 9999. This must be some kind of multiplier and the manual makes little sense.
I have been going over the manual and I must be missing something.

Re: Huanyang VFD Settings - Trying to understand.
Something tells me the manual you have may not be the exact one you need. Is the model number of your VFD listed in the manual? Either the parameters you are setting are not the correct one because the manual is off or the VFD is defective. Do you have another VFD to try? The one you have could be bad.
As for the current draw of that spindle, do those other "forums" know how to use an Ohm's Law Calculator? A 110 volt motor with 2200 watts of power uses 20 amps of current, not 9. If the spindle was a 240 volts spindle then the amperage would be 9. It's just simple math.

Re: Huanyang VFD Settings - Trying to understand.
Unless I am missing something, your motor nameplate states 20 amps for Max motor current = 2.2kw @ 110v. However your PD 142 is set to 9 amps which equates to just 1kw
This suggests PD142 setting should be considered as the probable cause of your speed restriction.
As Shawn said earlier, please take this with a large grain of salt NOT advice especially as I have just finished a rather large glass of Single Malt

Re: Huanyang VFD Settings - Trying to understand.
The Ohms law is pretty straight-forward. However, if I am not mistaken, this is a three phase motor. So if this is the case I am not sure that the straight Ohms Law calculation will work.
I took some guesses as to the Power Factor and Efficiency... but this calculator came out to about 8.7A.

Maybe I am making this too complicated? I am just being cautious about over-driving a phase and burning out the spindle.

Re: Huanyang VFD Settings - Trying to understand.
Unfortunately the manual covers - seemingly - all of their VFDs. Also unfortunate, it is in somewhat poorly translated Chinese.ShawnM wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:35 pm Something tells me the manual you have may not be the exact one you need. I do not have another VFD. I wish I did.
