CNC Router & Plasma in one machine

Post by dan_cuspi »

I need some assessments on which hardware to use. I'm building my own CNC machine and I want to use plasma and a router on the same machine of course not at the same time.
I will like to choose either of both just by software if that is even possible.
I'll use a VFD spindle and a power max 65 plasma
4 32 NEMA motors 2x axis, 1y axis, and 1z axis.
7 proximity sensors
I will like to add a THC for the plasma compatible with the power max.
And in the future, I´ll add a lathe

Yes, you can have both the plasma and router software installed on the same CNC PC. There's even a little app included with the plasma software that rule switch between the two for you.

Make sure your turns ratios are at least one turn per inch or greater. Don't go below one. If you're using rack and pinion, this typically requires at minimum a three to one reduction and better yet 5:1 planetary gearbox.
