machine axis setup

Post by Sowest48 »

Must have missed it as I won't through the manual. I am trying to set up the DB25 connector with the 4 motors on my CNC. I see in the section DB25 Mapping how it maps the step/dir/enable to each of the axis 1-4 but I can't find where to identify each of those axis. What I mean is how do I make step1 / dir1 map to the y axis and so forth for the other axis. Looked a few times but I must be missing it.

Hi Tim, the pin outs are on each of the wiring diagrams that Centroid provides. What drives are you using? Please provide us with some more info. Each diagram shows step and direction for drives 1 through 4. Typically 1 is X, 2 is Y, 3 is Z and the 4th whatever you need it to be. Sometimes it's a slave axis to another axis or a rotary axis. You can define the axis in the wizard. Hope this helps.

In the wizard there are axis 1-4, there you can choose the axis labels for each axis.

Normally on a mill 1-4 are X Y Z A

Hi, thanks for the replies.

I am using DM542T stepper drivers and I'm wiring as shown in S15108 because I eventually want to use it for plasma. It just happened that I wired it so that XYZA are 1 through 4 with A being a second motor on the other side of the X axis. So it works but what if I wanted to make a change, say make D1S1 the Y axis. Where in the mapping do I do that.

On a flat bed machine, the 1st axis should be X, the second Y
