Tool Library and Fusion 360

Post by Bosco »

Hello
the question I have is about the tool library in Fusion360 and the one in cnc12
when i post g code for a part will cnc 12 recognize the tool number and offsets from fusion or do they have to match the one in the cnc12 library?
is ther a way to reset the Tool library in cnc12
I have been looking through thre manual , cant find an answer to the quetion .

They are independent so you need to define all your tools in CNC12 and Fusion separately. There may be an import option but I have not got that far yet in my learning but it’s on my mind to look into that.

They need to match. You have to set them up seperately.

The gocde wil only going to tell Acorn which tool to use. You need to setup each tool in acorn, mainly the tool length offset.

if just running gcode, the only thing in CNC12 you need to set is the tool length.
Works a lot better though as a height offset from your probe vs actual length. swissi probe app is pretty good
The diameter is only if you want it to show up as its size on the graphic preview graph thing. i actually prefer keeping the diameters unset so it is just a point on the graph and doesn't paint everything yellow.

Whether or not you need the diameter depends on how you are approaching tool offsets. If you are posting non-offset toolpaths from Fusion, then CNC12 needs the actual tool diameter and you can compensate for over/undersize cutters. If you are posting offset toolpaths from Fusion without compensation, then the CNC12 diameter compensation table doesn't matter. If you are posting offset toolpaths from Fusion with wear compensation, the CNC12 needs either 0 or the amount the cutter is cutting over/undersize.
Cheers,

Tom
