how setup ethernet adapter for acorn? [solved: forgot to add the static ip]

Post by rk9268vc »

Been using exact setup for almost a year no problems.
Had a buddy over and we were doing some networking stuff with old server gear etc using this pc.
I have since reset the ethernet adapter back to defaults, but my acorn wont connect.

acorn has the heartbeat, the ethernet port has the orange and flashing green like it is getting data, but still cnc12 wont start. I have the pc setup how yall want it in the benchtest video from Keith.
I have tried a different ethernet cable that i know works, no dice.
I have also tried using a usb-c ethernet adapter to see if the port was bad, still no change.
and restarted pc, have all windows updates, etc etc

I can ping it, and it responds, but CNC12 doesnt see if for some reason

i think it is something to do with the ethernet adapter or something. Is there a specific IP i can assign it, or ethernet settings I can use to set it as static?

I would try to reinstall cnc12 but i dont really want to set back up wizard, swissi probe app, etc.
My last report file is either a weekly backup or one posted here.

thanks

If you read in the install manual it states that the IP address for your ethernet adaptor must be set 10.168.41.1 and also set as a static IP address. Here's also a link to a topic Keith posted on communication issues.

Thanks Shawn, that was it. When i reset the network it wiped the static ip and was just dhcp.
entering in to use the static ip and it works again

related is the new stressTest.cnc macro included with v4.8 in the ncfiles directory, run that after you have communications 'working' for a real world com stress test.
