And with older, substandard pc's with the slower USB 2.0 ports this could be an issue as well. Today's modern pc's have the latest USB 3.0 ports that are faster. Some pc's have both so make sure you are plugged into the blue USB ports.

Using a pc below the minimum benchmark and asking it to do everything is asking for trouble. Also, Windows updates can also wreak havoc on pc's and cause many of the required settings for Acorn use to revert back to the default Windows settings. Then things stop working properly and have you chasing your tail again.

I have a wireless pendant on a 5x10 plasma table with the antenna in plain site of the pendant and have no issues. I can walk all the way around the machine and use it. It's the cat's meow. I even tried it on a 6x12 router which is nearly 14 feet long and it works great.

I also do not think Antenna is a problem, I tested when the WMPG looses connection and had to walk a longer way with walls in between.

Ok, from the start

I am NOT a computer geek.

Once again, the machine runs great! The hand wheel does not work most of the time.

I double checked to see if I had the correct numbers in the parameter screen, I THINK I do.

I bought a new computer with windows 10 and it was suppose to have an I5 processor that I THINK??? is it fast enough, I don't know. (MPG still don't work)

The touch monitor came in and its suppose to be 16:9 but I don't know (MPG still don't work)

I tried different antenna positions, including right by the MPG, (check the picture) and it still don't work.

Any ideas?

Report looks ok for the WMPG, but lot of resends.

Maybe you have to send the WMPG to Centroid, to check it.

If you are not a computer geek then please ask for advice when buying a computer or monitor so those of us who are can steer you in the right direction. We are here to help with any question you might have. Better to ask a question than waste more money chasing your tail with another useless computer.

That new PC has a single core rating of 1645 which just barely gets over the hurdle of 1500.

If you have a lot of PC resends then you have other issues you need to address with communications between the PC and the Acorn. These issues are typically noise related but it can be a cable or ethernet jack related as well. More than likely it's noise related. Could this be your problem? Sure seems likely given that your WMPG issues are intermittent. Can you post pics of your wiring and control cabinet?

For the record, when I downloaded his report and extracted it I got a trojan warning of a virus from both my security programs. Be careful with this report. I have downloaded hundreds of reports from other forum members and have never received a Trojan/virus warning before.

to avoid issues like this ALL of the details on this post must be followed and checked.

Things that will cause com errors

1.) using a RJ45 a bulk head connector

2.) Using a regular non-shielded Ethernet cable or the shielded cable is bad, try another shielded cable as a test.

3.) Using a USB Ethernet adapter.

4.) Ethernet adapter drivers on CNC PC haven't been updated (use manufacture drivers is possible)

5.) ANY type of anti virus software installed, you can't just simply turn it off you have to uninstall it

6.) Windows fire wall blocking cncm.exe, cncr.exe, or cnct.exe

7.) Windows or Laptop bios power saving feature turning off the Ethernet adapter, Windows resetting the ip address automatically. Un select “Obtain an IP address automatically” in Windows ethernet adapter settings and select “ Use the following IP address”

Thank You for the advice Keith and Shawn and Sun, and everyone

I'm fairly sure I did most of that stuff and am plugged into the right plugs.

Anyways, I got in another new Acorn. The ONLY thing I changed was to swap out the Acorn, Antenna and MPG, I used all the same wiring, etc.. I did have to re-do a couple homing things the Wizard must have undone, and I put in the new Pro unlock.

Now the new MPG works in every USB plug, all 10 of them from both computers, every time. I did total shut downs every time I changed USB plugs position. Everything works great!

Now what do I do? I have another machine waiting for an Acorn and I do not want to install the first one I received that didn't work for me. Please don't tell me I need a better computer and bigger screen.

Maybe send the first one in to Centroid for testing?

Thank You for your help,
Bill

did you solve the communications errors on the system you posted the report for?

post a report for the new system.

If you think the Acorn is at fault, you can buy a swap out for $199, send back the Acorn in question. If it has an issue we refund the $199. If not we keep the $199 :-))

Acorn Swap-Out Program: In the event of user inflicted damage, Centroid offers an Acorn board Swap-out program. Acorn Swap-Out Cost: $199.
To order an Acorn Swap-Out: E-mail support@centroidcnc.com the Acorn board serial number and request an Acorn swap-out, Centroid will email a paypal link for $199 and issue an RMA number. Pay for the swap-out board and ship back the damaged Acorn board (with BBG) following Centroid RMA guidelines found in the RMA email from support@centroidcnc.com. Upon receiving the RMA, Centroid will ship a replacement Acorn board (no power supply or cables included just a swap-out Acorn with BBG.) UPS GND. Any License files purchased for the returned board will be transferred to the swap-out board and provided via email along with tracking number of the swap-out shipment.

FYI...the new public beta has a new communications stresstest.cnc file which as the name implies stresses the PC to Acorn communications to show any issues.

When you read this report please remember I did try this new Acorn with the old hand wheel so only go by the info for June 24 please. I didn't run the machine yesterday.

I turned the machine on a little after 10AM. I turned the MPG on after I turned on the computer but before Centroid's software booted and everything came to life like it should. I looped a program and let it run for maybe 15 minuets, no spindle. Then I put a part in and did some cutting. I turned the spindle on manually for this. I ran the machine for close to 1 hour total, then did this report file, then I turned it off. The machine has that faster computer in it, but I bet it would run the same with the under rated computer.

Maybe the report shows all kinds of re sends and electrical noise and viruses, I don't know, but what I do know is it ran exactly like a new machine should run!

I still don't know what to do with the old Acorn, MPG, and antenna. I don't know how to troubleshoot those items.

What is the next step I have to do?
