Hi, I have a Acorn and the wireless mpg hand wheel. software v4.64 in a Hurco machine tool.
The machine runs fine.
I am having problems with the wireless MPG.
Parameter's are set to: 218=7, 348=15, 349/350=100, New battery's and the battery indicator shows full bars. The little antenna is plugged in, and I tried different USB plugs. The handwheel is about 5' from the antenna. I did activate the PRO software.
I noticed I have to boot the computer a couple or few times to get the MPG to work. Sometimes I get a message that the software couldn't find the MPG, sometimes I don't get the message. I tried turning on the MPG before, during and after computer boot up and no difference. Today I ran it for an hour or so (the MPG was working fine after 2 boots) I stopped to put in a new part, and the feed over ride on MPG didn't work. pushing the MPG button on the computer screen didn't work either, the fake LED is off and won't turn on. I noticed nothing works on MPG although it has XY and Z numbers showing up on it. I jogged the machine and the MPG numbers didn't change, although they were changing on the monitor. I turned the MPG on and off a few times, the same numbers were still there, not dashes like when you first turn it on. when I turned the machine off and on, the numbers went away, but still does not hook up during boot up very well. This is somewhere around the 15th of these MPG handwheels I installed with Acorns and haven't had trouble with any of them.
If I had to make a guess, I would say it has something to do with Windows 11, but that's 100% a guess!
I tried to do the windows computer set up for Windows 10 but Windows 11 is a little different, and I'm no computer geek. maybe I missed something?
Any ideas?
Did I open a can of worms by using a Windows 11 computer? when I bought it I was concerned with processor speed and didn't notice it had windows 11 until I turned it on for the first time. Remember, everything else works great!
I have another Hurco I have to retrofit so I will be buying another Acorn and MPG in a week or so. If this is the first you heard of something like this, I will make sure I buy a Windows 10 computer and I will try this MPG with Windows 10.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: wireless mpg communication problems
Keith, according to his report he's running Win10 but the CPU benchmark is 1170 which is way under the requirement of 1500.
I think a new PC is in order. His display is also only set to 1536x864, those are weird settings, no?

Re: wireless mpg communication problems
Hello and thanks for the advice. Like I said, I am not a computer geek.
It's one of those little square computers, maybe 6”x6”x2”, not a laptop.
There are a couple of questions that hit my thinker (as a non computer person)
Question 1: I used that same, very old, non touch monitor to set up probably the last 6 or more acorns with no problem, will the hand wheel start working when the touch monitor gets here?
Question 2: The benchmark of 1170 is “way low”! OK, we have a lathe coming up which only requires a benchmark of 1,000 so the 1170 is “way high”. Will the hand wheel start working if I use this computer in the Lathe?
Maybe internal data from the report file in the computer says its windows 10, I don't know, but it has the Windows 11 screens.
Do you really think those are my issues?

Re: wireless mpg communication problems
1) Cant say for sure, as you may also have a pendant/receiver issue
2) Same answer, but if you need to use the sub standard PC, a lathe is the place to TRY it.
Have you sent the pendant in to Centroid for testing?

Re: wireless mpg communication problems
all pendants are tested before they ship, 99% of connection issues are the USB port/Windows related.
