Re: X axis motor trips while running a job

I called Teknic about my problem to get some help. We conducted some test while on the phone, All test showed no problem with the motor, and they sent the procedure to test the Hardware Inputs into the Clear Path Motors, that also showed the inputs are functioning correctly. While on the phone with the tech I homed the machine and it homed to the lower left corner as I have it set in the wizard, then loaded a new small job while cutting the router did not move in the X neg. direction all X movement was in the X pos. direction. Tech had me disconnect X motor from controller and hook USB cable back to motor, In MSP I clicked on override inputs, and was able to jog the router in the X neg. direction CW, and the X pos. direction CCW. Connected motor back to controller and clicked the homing sequence, Z moved in the pos. direction Y moved in the neg. direction which is the correct sequence, but X did not move in the neg. direction but moved in the pos. direction. Manually I can't move the router in the X neg. direction if I hit X neg. router moves in the X pos. direction. There is no Clockwise or X neg. movement while motor is being controlled by Acorn. The only neg. movement of motor is thru Clear Path MSP. Any help is welcome Thanks.

Just putting this out there, and its hard to fully understand what is happening, but you are aware that you can reverse the direction of a motor in the Wizard.

Axis Label Motor Encoder Lash Comp. Limit Home Dir Screw
revs/in counts/rev. (inches) - + - + Rev Comp
1 X 5.0872 1600 0.0000 2 2 1 0 N N
2 Y 5.0872 1600 0.0000 2 2 1 0 N N
3 Z 5.0872 1600 0.0000 2 2 0 1 N N

Have you tried to wire the motor directly to the Acorn bypassing the C86 board per diagram S14971?

Have you checked for any loose connections?

CNC Maryland Thanks for the Idea. I went into to the wizard and changed the X motor reversal from No to Yes, saved the settings and initiated a homing sequence, the Z and Y moved to their home positions but the X motor moved in the X pos. direction, even with the motor rotation reversed.
With rotation reversed either X- or X+ button depressed router only moves in the in the X pos. direction.

Check for an open condition on the direction wire to that motor

I just pulled one of the Y axis motors and hooked it to the X axis terminal on the C86ACCP board and it does the same thing, both direction commands results in motor only turning in the ccw direction. I then hooked the X axis motor to one of the Y axis terminals and disconnected the Y slave motor, and using Y axis commands the X axis motor travels in both directions matching which button is selected. Could it be problem with the C86ACCP?

Either the C86ACCP or as Gary mentioned previously, you have a wiring problem between the Acorn and C86 board.
Cheers,

Tom

Ordered a new C86ACCP board will install it when it gets here and see if that works. I have switched motor leads and switched motors also. Still don't have X neg movement.

To eliminate any issues with the c86accp board, connect the motor direct to the acorn board on 1st the X and then the Y axis terminals

So don't connect C86 accp to Acorn but hook the motor direct to the Acorn board? I will have to make some jumper wires to connect the Molex plug to the Acorn screw terminals. My C86 ACCP has molex connectors.
