Hello all, first time poster here!
Successfully converted my shop built router from Arduino/steppers to Acorn/hybrid steppers. All seems to be working well, but I'm having trouble with the software travel limits. Having entered the travel limits for my router, they seem to save OK, but then a couple of sessions later they've all reset back to zero. I usually only realise this when I accidentally jog past zero, which of course I'm not supposed to be able to do with the limits set!
I've managed to resolve all the other issues I've encountered with the build with the help of various YouTube videos and this forum, but can't seem to find anyone else having this particular problem. It doesn't stop the machine running, but would be nice to have it working properly (and safely).
Any insights much appreciated!

Hard to provide insights when we don't know what your machine looks like or how it's configured. Post photos and a report.
If you are using software pairing on your gantry, anything that stops the homing roitine will leave your limits set to 0. The paring routine set the limits to zero at the start and restores them at the end. If this is interrupted the limits do not get restored.

Re: Software travel limits resetting to zero...
if you interrupt the homing sequence with Auto Squaring enabled, it appears to zero out the travel limits.

In your example, where it doesn't work, you need to be sure that you home the machine first, before anything so it know where to start from.

Re: Software travel limits resetting to zero...
Thank you all! I am using the auto square routine, so it sounds like that could be the culprit. Auto square seems to run OK, and it hasn't failed since I first set the machine up (had slave and master set incorrectly). The loss of the travel limits appears to be a bit random; sometimes it zeroes everything, sometimes it doesn't. I'll keep an eye on it to see if I can spot a pattern.

Re: Software travel limits resetting to zero...
Quick update. When running the homing cycle (with auto squaring), occasionally the dwell stalls, and I have to press cycle start to get the sequence going again; I'm guessing this would be considered an interruption?

Re: Software travel limits resetting to zero...
Yup, any interruptions in the homing sequence will cause the machine to not restore the travel limits and they’ll be left at zero. Check your error log for communication issues between the PC and Acorn.
