New Build - 2007 ShopBot PRS

Post by acornKurt »

Finally getting around to building my new controller for my ShopBot. Today I bolted everything down to the backing plate for the controller. Hope to get wiring done tomorrow so I can test all 4 new motors with the controller over the weekend.

Got my controller wiring done and tested stepper motors today. Struggled to get x1 & x2 properly wired, but finished that today. A few pics below.

Heatshrink dressing the cable jackets and ferrules!!!! Way to go! I always try to make my retrofits look OEM and it pleases me to no end to see others doing the same. Great work!
Cheers,

Tom

I am wiring up my limit switches, each switch has 3 wires. I am looking for a connector so I can "plug" in my limit switches outside my controller, similar to how I did my motors. So I will wire up the limit switch and run wire thru control box wall and terminate at a connector.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can do this cleanly? Like a wago connector or something.

I use a Phoenix connector on one of the models I sell for the older PRT's that might work. There are pics of them in this thread: https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=6513

I buy them from DigiKey

Working on my limit switches today, particularly trying to get the x axis switch wired and sensing properly. Don't know if my wiring is off or I am doing something in setup wrong. My limit switch has brown, black and blue. I have brown and black to common and blue to input one. I have tried setting to NC and NO and neither work when I move gantry over switch. I also have a video of my testing.

"Diagram 3" shows Brown and Black are +V. Why do you have them connected to common?

That's a good question, I will check it out. Did not even notice that, I was just associating black with common I guess.

Thanks Tom!!
