I set up my new CNCPC and bench-tested Acorn last night all is good. The drives I have are Leadshine ES-D508 from Automation Technologies. The drives I ordered were the KL-5080H but was told by John they are the same. So the question is what is my best option for Wizard set up as the Leadshine ES-D508 Is not in the default list. There is actually a selection for the KL-5080H drives BUT it is named (Automation Direct KL-5080H) IS it just listed wrong? There is yet another option for a Leadshine CS-D508.
What is my best option?
Bill,
Seems like you are jumping around a bit.
What are you working on first, lathe or mill?
Let's start with one and move forward.
Disregard the PM's we exchanged.
Please post a link to the drive manuals. That way those of us that try to help don't have to go searching. Make sure you use any encoder extension cables that came with the drives during your bench testing.

Hi Marty, Im working on the lathe right now. I do have the encoder & motor cables connected. Yes I did watch your vids on the Emco build KL-5080H drives. Here are the manuals and some pics of the wiring. (I followed your wiring on the video). I was going to upload the PDF but its too big so here is the link driver on bottom of the page.
Please double check your STP, DIR, ENA wiring from Acorn to your drives.
It looks to me like you may have mis-wired. Follow your colors.....
At Acorn you have:
Black=Step
Red=Dir
Green=Ena
At the drive it looks like you have:
Red=Step
Green=Dir
Black=Ena+?????
You should have +5VDC running to Drive:
+Pul
+Dir
+Ena
Then you should connect Drive:
-Pul to Acorn STP
-Dir to Acorn DIR
-ENA to Acorn ENA
Sorry for the delay....
Double check your wiring
Marty
P.S. These are 5VDC Logic drives. They may do better connected to Acorn's DB25 port but start with the above. (looks to me like you have wiring issues)

To be more clear, it appears to me that you put the jumpers on +Pul, +Dir and +Ena but I don't see the +5vc feeding them.
Hey all, Finished my mill controller build and got it setup . Ive run into an issue and not sure whats going on. Everything was going good, the motors were working. I was trying to figure out axis direction and I inverted all the drive directions. Now I have no motor movement. Did I screw something up doing that? I have reversed those changes. Green LEDs are on, on all 4 drives. Machine is not sitting on any of the limit switches, nothing has come unplugged. ? Motors were running fine before that change.
Drives are Automation Technologies ES-D508
here is a report.
