Question about the ethernet cable that goes from the Acorn to the controller computer, can I use any ethernet cable or is there a specific one I would like to get like a 50 footer so that I can go all around my garage anywhere I want.. Does anybody have a specific recommendation for this

But did you read the installation manual?

In there is even a picture helping you to see the difference shielded/unshielded cable. Use CAT5 shielded or better.

OK no problem going to head to Micro Center and pick one up shortly my question is I’m trying to update the firmware I’m assuming I can go inside to my computer that’s hooked up to the Internet download the new firmware onto a flash drive bring it out to the My machine and update it that way hopefully also my other question is upon screenshot Ing all the configurations in the wizard I see right here in this picture it shows the clear path SDSK and it says steps per revolution should be 6400 does that mean I should reset everything to 6400 because right now everything is set on 1600

Does it make more sense or would it be more beneficial to have us limit switches on both ends of each axis instead of just using the soft limit on one end and then the hardwired switch as the home switch would it work better to have two hardwire switches per access so that nothing ever hits the end of physical travel and damage anything ???

I personally feel it's even more important on an open-loop control like the Acorn(6). If you loose steps for any reason, soft limits no longer work.

Have both (two switches and soft limits) for each axis on my closed-loop systems. Switches for fail-safe operation, and soft limits for deceleration as the limits are approached.

The majority of large CNC equipment has two limit switches per axis.
