Re: Fuji servo drives with acorn.
You might want to recheck the Encoder expansion board documents. I believe it supports differential encoder INPUTS for reading encoders. I do not believe it supports differential quadrature OUTPUTS to control a servo motor drive.
Cheers,
Tom

Tom,
I guess this way you could figure out if it will work or not.

Re: Fuji servo drives with acorn.
Hello Tom,
I am referring to a different board that goes directly into the two expansion headers on the ACORN6. It does not seem to be listed for sale on our site yet but it does indeed add support for differential quadrature outputs to drives. We have it set up like that on a router with Yaskawa Sigma 5 drives.
I'm gonna try to get ACORN6EXP listed not just because of those quadrature outputs but because it adds four more SCOUT protocol ports to allow use of more than one SCOUT expansion board (Jog panel, encoder expansion, PLC expansion) at a time.

That sounds like a great addition to the Six family!
Cheers,

Re: Fuji servo drives with acorn.
So, knowing what I have as far as connections.
You think that the ACORN6 will work well?
If so, Ill have to see when the ACORN6 Plasma will be ready.
If not or you know something better....
What direction would you go as far as a for sure Centroid to Servo fit?
Thanks

Re: Fuji servo drives with acorn.
we are working on Plasma THC support for both AcornSix and Hickory this week. beta should be available soon. ( 2 weeks or so)jbmclain wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 4:57 pm I Really appreciate all the quick response.
I hope Centroid can work things out soon with the Plasma and the ACORN6EXP.
The ACORN6EXP looks less of a headache and a better fit.
In the mean time Ill keep working on the water table and put some lipstick on this pig.

Re: Fuji servo drives with acorn.
Keith,
I really appreciate the heads up on the advancements of the Centroid line-up.
I'm looking for a control board that will match what I have. It will cause less headaches down the line..
So that being said. Would the ACORN6 or HICKORY be the simplest option?
Or Should I look for a different driver/ servo alternative.
All thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Re: Fuji servo drives with acorn.
if you need differential step and direction you can use a diff board right now with regular Acorn, serval post on this forum showing what others have done.
