Rigid tapping Setup

Post by suntravel »

Maybe useful for someone...

My Setup for rigid tapping

Servo Driver 0.1s deceleration and acceleration time

Parameters in Acorn

0.25s acceleration for z-axis in the Wizard

P36 - 1
P37 - 0.1
P68 - 800
P69 - 0.2 (lower produced some overshoot)
P82 - 45
P143 - 1
P240 - 500 (for a metric setup)
P241 - 10

works ok for tapping in the 800-2000rpm range with my cheap Closed Loop Steppers

Direction change in the hole (especially from 2000-0 rpm) could be faster for my taste but found no way to speed this up further

Uwe,
Hello. nice work as usual! thanks for sharing.
would be great to pan the camera over to the Acorn CNC12 screen during these demos to prove that its an Acorn that is running the show:-))

If it would be Linux CNC I have had to talk 15min how difficult rigid tapping was to set up, an then looking at the slow tapping I would fall asleep :D

But ok next video with Acorn screen and the complete single line of programming in Intercon

That looks great! Nicely done!

Which encoder did you use? I’ve ordered one of the cheap omron knockoffs, but I’m a bit concerned that it won’t work with my 7k spindle.

400line SFEncoder, because Omron an the knockoffs will only work to 6000rpm with 1000 lines, 3000rpm with 2000 lines
