CNC Knee mill with acu-rite to acorn?

Hey guys, new here. I just picked up a 2013 champ knee mill with acu-rite 3000i software. The controls are acting a little screwy, so considering switching to a centroid controller. How do I know if my motors and encoders and whatnot are compatible with acorn?
Ive had a crash where it listed the nc, multiple buffer battery errors, an error where it states the plc has no error, ghost e stops, and more. Trying to get into machining and not off to a good start!
