CNC Lathe Part Off tool thickness

Post by mujenpwr »

I did a few searches and could not find this topic. I setup my tool offsets following CncKeiths video. Works very well. My question is what is the best way to accommodate the part off thickness?

When you do your tool offsets, you can add in the tool width at that time (I.e. touch off on the back side of the tool, or touch off on the front and add the width to te Z offset). Or, you can add the width in the program when you use that tool by adding the tool width to the part dimension.
Cheers,

Tom

That’s what i was planning to do. Add the width to tool offset/touch the backside. Wasn’t sure if there was something else I was overlooking. Thanks Tom
