Motors

Post by newtothis »

Hi All- Please forgive I am new to this. My original machine was working fine until a power surge fried everything. It had separate 542 step motor drivers for each AXIS. I replaced it with a board similar to the Acorn. I wasn't happy with the documentation so I replaced that with a Acorn board. To connect my nema 23 motors to the replacement board I had to connect to A1 A2 B1 B2 for each Axis. I see on the Acorn board there's Com, EN1, DR1, St1 . First do I need the original M542 step motor drives or can I connect the motors directly to the Acorn. Second if I can how does A1 A2 B1 B2 correspond to Com, EN1, DR1, ST1 on the Acorn ?

Thanks

You can not connect the motors direct to Acorn, you need drivers for the steppers and connect the drivers to Acorn and the AB powerlines from driver to the stepper.

see Acorn schematics for guidance on verified axis motor drives that have been tested with Acorn.
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... browse.php#
use the search... search on "acorn" to see all the Acorn schematics.
