The F1200 HS is very similar to my F1210 HS which has an extended table on X axis. My model was sold as "CNC ready" which in reality included stepper Motors ready mounted with timing belt gearing and kinetic limit switches all pre-wired with shielded CY 7 core cable for each motor / limit pair. Each cable terminates in a DB9 connector.

Limit Switches EUCHNER N01K550-M (Ball type) accuracy 0.030 mm (approx 0.0007") with excellent repeatability
Stepper Motors SANYO DENKI 103H8221-6241
Spindle is likely the same HS (max 7,500rpm) as yours with integrated VFD and manual FWD, REV and 0-100% speed control.
I converted this to run on Acorn using Gecko G203v drives and a 36v power supply.

The mill was fitted with a CNC controller and stepper drives from the factory. The stepper motors are SanMotion 103H8221-6241 (2 phase bipolar, 388 oz-in holding torque, 6A rating, 0.3 ohm/1.65 mH windings) on X, Y and X axis.

The controller and stepper drivers looks like the MCS100 from MAX Computer. The controller has a 32 bit MCU. The 3 stepper driver boards have a 8 bit MCU and 2.5A output drivers. The stepper motors are connected via a DB9 plug to the back panel.

The spindle motor seems to have a VFD that accepts 10V input based on the wiring and manual.

From this, I am thinking of replacing the controller and stepper drivers with an Acorn and a Gecko G540. Any inputs appreciated.

The link I posted above to Lorenzo's thread will assist with your spindle as he is successfully running the HS spindle from Acorn - Long thread but well worth the read

The Gecko 504 is not a good choice as current is limited to 3.5amp and will seriously limit your performance. As your Sanyo Denki motors are identical to mine they accept up to 6 amp. That is why I used Gecko's G203v with 240 Kohm 1/4w 5% current limiting resistors providing a safe limit of just under 6amps using a 36vdc Power supply. I arrived at 36vdc using Gecko's own formula (32 * √inductance = VMAX) = 41vdc but limiting voltage to 20 x motor's nominal 1.8vdc, the latter derived from 6amps x 0.3 ohms.

For 36vdc motor power I used Meanwell's MSP-600-36 power supply capable of 0-17.5 amps, enough for all 4 axes.

The machine seems to have a VFD (M1 in the schematic below) that supports 10V input. It is currently connected to a potentiometer giving a range of 0 to 10V. Acorn should be able to drive this VFD.

Yes, the link posted by Nigelo showing how a F1210 hs was converted really helped.

I ordered an Acorn controller and 3 Gecko G203V. I am deciding between 3x 36V 200W switching supplies vs 1x 36V 600W switching supply. I would like to reuse the existing cabinet and switches so whichever option fits in the space is preferred.

You might find the existing Cab a little too small for comfort. However, I did not have this OEM Cab for a test fit anyway and therefore used a large ABS cab from Schneider that I had available. That said, the difference in size between the MSP 600-36 that I used (218*105*63.5mm) and the MSP 200-36 you referred to (199*98*38mm) is so small that a 600 series will be far more compact.

The vertical layout in conjunction with the mandatory large aluminium heatsinks for each drive allowed me to use a small 5v fan for air circulation with exhausts at top, either side of the Power supplies.

Remember you will need a DB25 breakout connector as you should use the Acorn's DB25 connector rather than the 24v headers.

Does anyone know the pitch of the leadscrew and the pulley in the stock 1210hs ? I bench tested my Acorn and G203V drivers and am ready to connect up to the machine.

For the leadscrew variant (not the ballscrew option) my X, Y and Z Acorn settings average 15.88 IMPERIAL revs per inch which you could use as a starting point before fine tuning. If my maths is correct, this is equivalent to METRIC 1.6 mm per Rev.

Edited to say that MOTOR steps per rev using the G203v should, of course, be set to 2000 to match the Gecko
