You can run the ENAble signal through a contactor.
I believe you have a small Sherline lathe with what kind of axis motors?
Marty
Marty, could you direct me to a drawing or doc for the wiring you are recommending on this for me? Ive looked in "all docs here in the form" but do not see anything on VFD wiring?

You have to "engineer" this yourself.
You assign an output to VFD Enable
You assign an output to SpinFwd.
Use these if you are not using an Estop Contactor
IF you are using an Estop contactor, then
Then run the ENAble through a pair of contacts on the Estop contactor.
Use SpinFWD to turn your Spindle drive on.

For the record, you are calling the Isolator a KBIC 240D that is incorrect. It is a KBSI-240D
KBIC is usually the prefix of one of KB Electronc's spindle drives.
If you use the search feature of this website and enter KBSI 240D you will get many hits

The Sherline machines have a speed control board also by KB and that is the KBIC SCR DC motor speed control board. This is the manual speed control for there machines. SO Im just getting them mixed up. Which btw is still part of the system, the KBSI-240D plugs into it as well as the Acorn.

So which speed control did they use? There IS a schematic for a KBIC-120 with built on SI-5 isolator board

(model KBLC-240DS) 3376F This is what the sticker on the back of the motor control box calls out. Not sure why its a different model than the doc Sherline provided?

In my original post I provided all the docs Sherline sent me to get the spindle wired up and working with speed control.

Bill,
If you can't sort this out yourself, you will need to find someone to help you.
The KBLC-240DS is an old obsolete drive. Not to say it won't work for you. Do you have the manual for that drive so you understand where you need to connect it? I will go back and see if you provided a link.

Are you comfortable doing this?
Marty

I'm getting lost in all of this. What exactly is your problem to this point? Trying to figure out how to add an Estop relay or safety on your spindle?
Initially you were asking about power. I think that was answered.

I use Estop contactors many don't. I don't think that is good practice. But to each his own I suppose.

Basic E-Stop contactor schematic has recently been added to the Acorn schematics:

YES, my original question was regarding wiring the 110v to the KBSI-240. Whether the 110v power was supposed to come directly from the wall socket OR if it needed to be wired into the 110V power coming from the motors wiring. I ended up wiring it directly to a power cord and plugging it into the wall socket. It is working as expected. I have speed control via manual input, MDI input, as well as programmed speed control. I was happy with that and figured i was done.

You were the one who told me it's not a good idea to only rely on the software for emergency situations I ran with that based on your suggestion. SO yes based on that i need to wire the motor or KBSI board via Estop relay for safty as I understand it.
