I think I can and understand the Acorn schematics. My question is, should I drag and drop the NoFault to one of the outputs in the Acorn Wizard? Sorry if I sound dumb with so many questions...martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:47 am A contactor is an electrical relay that opens and closes one or multiple "switches".
The Acorn relay board has 8 small relays. Their contacts are only electrically rated for so much electrical current.
SO, you use an Acorn Output Relay assigned to NoFault, to power and control a larger contactor with multiple contacts.
IF this is still confusing, when I have time, I will try and do a simple demonstration and do a video on it. My time is quite thin right now
Can you read and understand an Acorn schematic?

No, you are fine, PLEASE ask the questions! Its what we are here for.guerra_cues wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:49 amI think I can and understand the Acorn schematics. Yes, drag NoFault to Output 1. Restart the control and then:
Start CNC12, press reset and watch the Relay board Output 1.
Many of the Acorn schematics show an "ESTOP Relay"
The Acorn System Schematic shows everything.

Cool Marty! Will do that! ESTOP is assigned to IN8 what Output should I drag and drop the ESTOP then?martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:58 amNo, you are fine, PLEASE ask the questions! Re: Rotary axis moving when turning on controller box
Estop is an INPUT (8)
NoFault controls an OUPUT (1)
Do nothing else but drag NoFault to OUTPUT 1
Observe the output behaviour.

Done! I have attached a new report. What should I look at on that output behaviour?martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 12:25 pm Estop is an INPUT (8)

Re: Rotary axis moving when turning on controller box
Tony, when you reset the control that relay should be turning on. It is correct?
Now hit your Estop button, it turns off correct?
If the control experiences a fault it will turn off.

Re: Rotary axis moving when turning on controller box
measure the voltage on the coil, or wire a control LED to the relay.guerra_cues wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:06 pmHow can I tell if the relay turned on?martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 12:58 pm Tony, when you reset the control that relay should be turning on. It is correct?

Re: Rotary axis moving when turning on controller box
I don't know which Acorn or relay board you have, but the latest relay board as LEDs on it. Red=Off, Green+On
