Marty a couple more questions about Spindle control with rotary encoder. I was able to get my spindle working with a C41S board and PWM input signal. And a rotary encoder with a 1:1 pulley drive.

1. Does the encoder also regulate RPM control?
2. Any special settings on spindle encoder setup screen.

See pics.

1: No. The encoder's purpose is for threading and rigid tapping and of course displaying actual spindle RPM.
2: if your encoder count is 1000 pulses per rev, then multiply by 4 and enter that value in the encoder counts field. When you rotate the spindle in the correct cutting direction, the rpm value on the display should be a positive value. If there is a -sign in front of the rpm value on the display, then go back in the Wizard encoder count field and add a -sign in front of the encoder value. For example -4000

Ok got it thank you. My encoder is 500 ppr hence the 2000 value I entered. I will check the value for normal rotation and verify it’s positive.

In your last photo, you have PWM enabled. Are you using it for spindle control?

Yes I am as my vfd control board requires a PWM signal
