Z-Axis Drive error when jogging

Post by Sriram_K »

I tried wiring using the ACORN controller, ClearPath motors, and a C86ACCP board. They worked fine until I tried to put on the fault detection feature.
Whenever I would move the Z-axis, I would get the Drive Fault. But if move the X or Y axis, I wouldn't get any errors, unless I intentionally move them past the homing switches.

When I tried to fix the problem, this is what I get:
- I've tried switching wires between the axis, but the axis I switched to would get the error instead.
- If I put connect the motor wires to another motor I'm not using, I don't get the fault at all.

Plz HELP

Post a diagram of how the motor is wired

Post a current report from the controller

Has the motor been autotuned? More than once?

Is there a counterbalance on the Z axis?

Hello Mr. Gary,

I don't really have a wiring diagram for the CNC, I followed the wiring of an already working CNC. but this is the wiring it was based on:
Image

For the wiring, I did:
- Plugged into X,Y,Z and put their Active Axis pins to 2-3
- I used a DC power hub between the power Supply and Motor, so I can wire 3 motors instead of 1 motor

For the report, I've been getting these errors every time I move Z-axis:

Motors were tuned 2x before I tried to put the DriveOK input

I don't know if there was a counterbalance on the Z-axis, how do I check for that?

Sry about the long wait

I believe this is the one we're using.

Also, is it possible for the motor to get Torque errors or excess friction without signaling a Fault on the motor, but signaling a Drive Fault error on the CNC router?

If you are getting drive faults on the controller and the motor led is not blinking yellow, then you may have the HLFB or the drive ok input configured wrong
