Re: Unable to setup homing
In the pic with the homing sequence - You have the 4th Axis A, set to Zero (0). Make it 4 and that axis will then home with the rest, last. Obviously it will need a homing switch.guerra_cues wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:24 am Howdy!
So It is time to update everyone that helped and unfortunately still have a few issues going on:
The good news!
The limit switches were fixed (had 2 bad switches) and I was able to home the CNC successfully! Yeah!!!!
Still having some issues after being able to Home the CNC:
- I am unable to Home the CNC with the A axis enabled (F6) - it homes the axis Z, Y and X still says that the machine needs to be homed. If I disable (F6) the A axis the CNC homes and is ready to go to work. What can I do to Home the CNC and still use the A axis?
- Homing X is running at 15ipm, is there a way to change that velocity?
At the end of the day the good news is the machine works very well but need to get the A axis situation fixed.
- When I was able to use the rotary, if I issued a command in MDI like A120, it's accurate but super sloooooow, where can I change that jog speed? And what is a faster speed recommended?
Thanks for all the input and help guys!
Re: Unable to setup homing
Because your Slow Jog speed, Fast Jog speed, and Max Rate for the A axis are all in degrees/minute, you will probably want numbers significantly higher than 360, at least for the Fast Jog and Max Rate.
Try setting your Fast Jog speed to 1800 degrees/minute, and your Max Rate to 3600 degrees/minute.

Re: Unable to setup homing
I don’t have a home switch on the A axis, I don’t need one. Is there a way to by pass that?CNCMaryland wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 2:39 pmIn the pic with the homing sequence - You have the 4th Axis A, set to Zero (0). Re: Unable to setup homing
Create your HOME file, then go in and edit the .hom file and comment out the line with the A axis.
Then tell the wizard NOT to overwrite the Home file in the future.

I followed cnckeith suggestion on editing the cncm.hom file (use Notepad ++) comment out the M code that seek the home switch and left the M26 /A alone Isn't that what you are referring to? However I didn't get a prompt to overwrite the Home file.
Here is the other thread:

I did not meant to confuse anyone but I thought that this question deserved it's own thread.

Re: Unable to setup homing <answered>
Tony, in the wizard on the "homing and travel" page in the first section at the top left, you can make a choice about your cncm.hom file. The second radio button down says "I will create my own home program, do not overwrite cncm.hom". Make sure that radio button is selected and write those settings to the cnc control. This way when you modify the cncm.hom file it will stay that way. If you don't select this option the software will overwrite the cncm.hom file at startup and undo any of your changes that you just made. So check this box first and write the settings to the cnc control, green button at bottom of the page, and then go out and edit the cncm.hom file to suit your needs.
