No, Only Centroid Pendants will work, but there are some USB keyboard emulators that will offer some function at a lower price

Yes you can use a Playstation controller on acorn it is done the same way a Xbox controller is used see this video on YouTube
The name of the video is Centroid acorn cnc with an Xbox controller by Rick Sparber... check it out I did the same to use the Xbox controller until I got my mpg

Again, generally any keyboard emulator will work.
Alternately, a nice inexpensive solution is the Contour Shuttle Express (Same thing Tormach uses):
