Re: cant figure out how to hookup, yes I read all docs
Im left with (1) 5V wire set from each stepper. The wires that are labelled 5V that are still connected to the connector are directly from my mach3 controller that I removed. Do I just let them hang since it looks like there are 2 wires that go to my Y axis (as there are 2 motors on my Y axis) and then (1) 5V wire for each X, and Z axis, so it must be jumped and connected elsewhere?
I was asked if I could read electrical schematics earlier and I just want to reference the post made by Keith.

If you look at this link, you'll see that the 5V wire from the stepper says its run into the V1 port of the MeanWell PSU. I was told a few posts ago on here that it actually does not go there.

For it to work the way you have it wired, take +5VDC from the Acorn Power supply and connect it to all the loose +5VDC wires. (That would put +5VDC to the Drive +PUL and +DIR)shreddedcurbs wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 6:26 pm Im left with (1) 5V wire set from each stepper. OTHERWISE (Preferred)
Connect Drive +Pul To Acorn DB25 STP
Connect Drive -Pul to Acorn DB25, any pin18-25
Connect Drive +Dir to Acorn DB25 DIR
Connect Drive -DIR to Acorn DB25, any pin 18-25
Test and report back.
ALSO Post a FRESH REPORT, F7 Utility, F7 Create Report

Re: cant figure out how to hookup, yes I read all docs
I will try the "Preferred" method. Also, you keep asking for a report, is there anything specifically you are looking for? The bench test and the spindle test were both successful. Other than those two things, Ive not done anything except start to wire up the DB25
Also you mentioned putting the wires in 18-25... why is that? It seems the schematic i posted above says to put them from 2-9. Did you mean to put the hanging 5v wires into the 18-25? I dont want to damage anything so I Want to make sure you know the schematic im using. I am not challenging your knowledge, I just dont want to damage anything. I appreciate all your help sir

I think I see where the miscommunication might be. Would you still recommend what you posted above for the ports to plug into?

Re: cant figure out how to hookup, yes I read all docs
When I was looking over your videos it seems that my DIR - and PUL - should go into the 2&3 ports and the Dir+ and PUL+ should go into 18-25 correct? Taking your advice only doing 1 axis at a time, there would only be 1 Red wire going into the 18-25 ports. Even though at the stepper those two are jumped together.

Re: cant figure out how to hookup, yes I read all docs
First Please refer to this picture which is on EVERY Acorn Schematic:
Here is your problem, it appears that you have the Drive DIR- and PUL- attached to DB25 DIR and STEP. IF you want to make it work as is, you need to go to the ACORN Power supply, on it is a +5VDC terminal. Take a wire from it and connect it to the drive's DIR+ and PUL+ terminals.
Try it with ONE axis, Axis 1, which is X put +5VDC from the Acorn Power Supply +5VDC terminal, to the DIR+ and the PUL+ terminals of the drive.
Do this first. Then using the Virtual Control Panel, press X+ and X- and see if your X axis moves
I want your current report file. It will allow me to load the file, and see how you currently have CNC12 configured.
F7 Utility, F7 CREATE REPORT.

You have no movement because you don't have a complete circuit.
Look at DB25 pins 18-25 they go to ACORN COM. If you put 5VDC there you will short things out! Here is your problem, it appears that you have the Drive DIR- and PUL- attached to DB25 DIR and STEP. Re: cant figure out how to hookup, yes I read all docs
I have not powered it on since I posted my last report above. So the report is still the same.
I dont have to use it "AS IS" I want to do things properly.
So to clarify your last post. I will run a wire from the V1 port of the MEanwell power supply and run it to my steppers DIR + which is already jumped to the PUL +. I am not jumping it at the db25 connector correct?

Re: cant figure out how to hookup, yes I read all docs
The other way to try (my first choice):
Connect Drive PUL+ to Acorn DB25 STEP terminal (1=X, 2=Y, 3=Z)
Connect Drive DIR+ to Acorn DB25 DIR terminal (1=X, 2=Y, 3=Z)
Connect Drive PUL- to Acorn DB25 PIN 18 (COM)
Connect Drive DIR- to Acorn DB25 PIN 19 (COM)
Wired this way, you won't need the +5VDC from Acorn at all. The STEP/DIRECTION DB25 terminals provide it.
The ACORN DB25 was designed to work similar to the PC DB25 parallel port.
