Not following you.
It is not out of the ordinary for a lathe to have two handwheels to mimic a manual lathe's handwheels.

It is a little unusual for a mill to have a handwheel for each axis, but not unheard of. I had a FADAL TRM that had a handwheel for each axis. Those handwheels were ON each physical Axis, that is on the table.

What is going to prevent you from turning the wrong handwheel?

It *may* be possible to add encoder inputs, but I would imagine this would be low on Centroid's priority list as they need to finish testing Acorn 6 and Hickory first before they work on any expansion modules IF they choose to supply them. I'll let Centroid comment on that.

You need to work on getting used to controlling your machine properly. Lots of ways to crash a machine.....

Ether1616 limit for Acorn is 3, you can connect 3 Ether1616's to Acorn.
