As for the 1422.22 steps per in. the machine I have is sprocket & chain driven, is it telling me that it takes less than 1 motor revolution to travel 1"?
Yes it does, assuming 16x microstepping (3200 for full revolution). Glad you got the math under your belt.
Cheers

So if that's the case do I need to set the axis wizard at .8888 rev per inch? Thanks for all your help by the way!
On the drive it has 8 dip switches but no information is given for switch 4 or 8. What should those be set at? I've read to leave them at factory settings but I'm not sure what that was..

Yeah, that's wrong. The Acorn doc is a bit skimpy on defining the DB25 outputs but it is suggesting 5V positive logic, so you have it wired backwards. No worries the LEDs on the CW230 input just won't work like this -- no damage.
You need to feed the DB25 signals to the positive inputs and tie the two negative inputs to the ground (e.g., pin 18)
Great, now you can play with the microstepping and current settings to get more comfortable with what those parameters do in real life. When playing, if you can still touch a motor with your hand (<70 deg C) you are OK.
Regarding the two micro switches you mentioned: 4 and 8, the doc I found contains a pretty incoherent paragraph talking about 1/2 current (while not mentioning which of the two switches controls that). Guessing based on controllers I have used, it is more likely that switch 4 controls that function. The switch allows you to cut the current in half when the motor is stopped. You should be able to play with it and feel the difference as the torque will also be cut in half.
I am guessing the other switch does not do anything. But you can always check if there is any affect. Remember to turn the power off when you play with the switches. Good luck!
Cheers
So it's up and running! Thanks everyone. I've played around with some of the conversational programming and it's great. Do I have to add the pro license to run larger programs? I'm not sure if the acorn came with that license when I purchased it. Thanks
Sorry if I missed it but I didn't see a report. Please post one. The control system serial number you show doesn't bring up anything. The report
will show everything I need to reply.

Sorry, I'm still new at all this. Hope this is what you need!
