is there a way to re-connect the MPG?

Post by rk9268vc »

Hello,

Doing some milling and occasionally the usb transmitter gets bumped at the wrong angle and disconnects, or the MPG loses RF signal.
My problem is that once the usb is plugged back in, or the pendant becomes in range again, even if I power cycle the pendant, it will not reconnect to CNC12.

The only way I have found to get the MPG to work again after losing signal is to close and reopen CNC12 which is a pain if Im in the middle of doing an operation.

How do you reconnect the MPG without relaunching CNC12?

Thanks

Are you saying you are inadvertently disconnecting the USB antenna?

Yeah the usb thing that has the antenna connected to it. I dont know if it is my computer's usb hub, or the antenna's but if it is not plugged in at the perfect angle, it isnt connected. maybe the port is worn out or something.

The other thing is that the MPG can lose RF signal if it goes behind too much metal between it and the antenna

anyhoot, I want to know how to reconnect it without reopening CNC12

If the USB dongle is pulled from the PC and plugged back in, Windows has to recognize it again.
Once disconnected and reconnected, If you power off the WMPG and power it in again, and it doesn't come up, you must restart CNC12
The antenna itself should be on top of an enclosure, not in one to work properly.

That is pretty dumb that CNC12 doesnt try to reconnect.
There should at least be a button for it to at least look for the mpg again. Especially since CNC12 is configured to use one and the MPG button is lit.

there might be some confusion here. you can turn the WMPG on and off with the big silver button on the WMPG at any time and CNC12 will reconnect to the WMPG without having to restart CNC12.
now If you pull the USB wireless Transmitter and receiver from the CNCPC that is different than turning off the WMPG, when you unplug the transmitter WINDOWS "loses" the WMPG and then most likely a reboot of CNC12 is required to reset everything after plugging it back in, and sometimes even a reboot of Windows is required depending on your particular USB port setup(s) to pick back up the USB Transmitter.
