Touch off Confusion

Post by lavrgs »

I'm trying to get a better grasp of touching off a tool on the top of a part. Currently when I touch off with Tool 2 in the spindle I get strange results if I set the tool number to 2 - when it's set to zero it accounts for the touch tool height of 1.1445. Do I always leave the tool number on 0?

You enter the tool number you are touching off with, and that becomes the reference that enables CNC12 to compensate for other tool heights if you have them entered into the tool table. Step #3 in the on screen instructions tells you to enter the tool number being used- that is- the one you are touching off with.

I have the same thing :)

Using Z home for the tools, the Z-Finder is perfect calculated, but not using it for Z of the workpiece.

So i dial in in Part position the height of the Z-Finder and the used tool number.

OK it took me a couple times to figure out that you put in the NEGATIVE value for the touch off tool -- 9-)
