Please forgive me as I'm not new new to cnc but I am new to this awesome Centriod cnc control system. A bit of a learning curve, but I like the challenge. My question is and I may already know the answer, but is it not possible to run 2 Y axis stepper drivers from the the Y axis output of the Acorn board? In my mind I don't see why you couldn't as its just output signals controlling 2 drivers, but I'm sure I'm probably wrong. It would be nice to still have a 4th available axis if I wanted to add a rotary axis.
Thank you all for any help you provide whether it be good or bad. I can't wait to start this journey to a REAL cnc control system.

Re: 2 Y axis stepper drivers on 1 Y axis output
Pay attention to the amount of current that each stepper driver's inputs draw. The DB25 step and direction signals are rated at 3mA typical and 20mA maximum. The opto-coupler circuit on a DM542 stepper driver (the model that I use) is rated to draw 7mA minimum, 10mA typical and 16mA maximum. You can easily boost the current with a a few components, including a transistor or similar device.

Thank you both for the reply. I'm leaning towards probably the Stepper Online DM542T digital stepper drivers.

this is covered in the axis pairing manual.
