is this a misprint in the CNC12 Mill manual

Post by BillB »

Is this is a misprint in the CNC12 mill manual OR is it just an example in the manual? Page 19.

Under incremental jog it shows 1X .0001 X10=.0010 X100=.0100

When hitting X100 I clearly get .1 of movement
When hitting X10 I clearly get .01 of movement
When hitting X1 I clearly get .001 of movement

Shouldn't it be in both manual and controller movement?
X1 = .001
X10 = .01
X100 = .1

See Parameter 40 in the user manual. Default is 0.0001" for the basic jog increment.

and i'll add you can set P40 to whatever you want. (within reason) typical Milling machine and lathe setting like tom said is .0001" router heads like .001"

Arguably it is an omission in the manual.

The description should mention that 0.0001" / 0.001" / 0.01" are typical values, but that the actual increments will depend on Parameter 40; and of course that different values are typically used on metric machines. It should also mention that, for rotary axes, the basic jog increment is taken from Parameter 41 instead.

Ok good to know thanks guys. But let me ask this can you add a 4th button for .001 and keep .0001 as well. It’s nice to have both, Path Pilot has all 4 increments and it’s really nice to have all.

Sorry, Centroid only has the three; X1, X10, and X100. With regular leadscrews on your machine, I doubt you'll see any use of tenths anyway.

If you really need a X1000 button, I guess you could modify the PLC program to add the functionality and then design a VCP button to run it.
