New build software travel limits. ERROR 907 axis travel.

Post by rlaury »

Acorn 4.64 Pro Mill. + MPG
"907 axis travel exceeded" when running .nc file. Machine homes properly. All axis have proper polarity. I have 2 limit +/- switches on each axis. all are in series NC contacts and they operate as they should. "Limit Home" on input 1. Any .NC file I load will not run. I get "907 axis travel exceeded" I've tried multiple configuration setting with no successes. I can remove the travel limits and programs load and run. HELP!

I've watched all of Marty's videos and setup travel limits per his instructions,

What does your homing macro say?

What numbers do you actually have entered in your software travel limits?

What WCS are you using, and where is it set relative to machine zero?

What axis and line number are named in the "907 _ axis travel exceeded, line __" message?

What does that line of your CNC program say?

All of those questions would be answered, if you were to post a current Report plus a copy of the CNC program file.

These are your soft limits:
X 0.0000 18.8000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000
Y -7.5000 0.0000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000
Z -8.1800 0.0000

It does not look like there is a part position set for G54:
Axis Origin Origin Origin Origin Origin Origin
#1(G54) #2(G55) #3(G56) #4(G57) #5(G58) #6(G59)
X 0.00000 -0.12972 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000
Y 0.00000 0.20000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000
Z 0.00000 -0.00003 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000

After you home the machine,
You need to set the part position
F1 Setup F1 Part
Follow the on screen prompts to set each axis.
(MAKE SURE YOUR TOOL LIBRARY AND OFFSETS ARE SET FIRST, AND MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE CONTROL WHEN SETTING Z WHICH TOOL NUMBER YOU ARE USING)
Once you properly set your part position, press F8 GRAPH, if you don't get any errors, you should be good to go. When you Press F8 Graph, CNC12 runs through the program and will make sure the program will work with in the work envelope. If it doesn't it will tell you.

You would do well to go to YouTube and watch the Centroid Mill Training Videos and read the Mill Operator's Manual.

Thanks Marty:
Yup, I'm doing something wrong setting part Zero. Does it matter where I press
cycle start? Do I need to be in the home location or part zero location? Can it be anywhere?
I'm not sure.

Set home first.
Then set part zero.
Once part zero is set, you can move the machine if needed.
Press F8 graph before you run the job.
I would turn the federate way down.
Remember, hitting the keyboard space are is feed hold.
Press cycle start to resume.

Before you do anything, go watch the Centroid mill training video on YouTube.

Well I've tried everything I know to try. I've watched all of Marty's and the Centroid training videos.
I've re-generated the program from Fusion360 using the Centroid Post Processor.
It simulates ok in Fusion. Is their a way someone can take a look at and see if you see any problems.
The error message say's "ERROR 907 X axis travel." Line 16.
The part is 7.437" X 3.00" 1/2" stock. It's a simple facing operation.
See attached.

That is very strange, since line 16 is just an M8 code to turn on coolant.

There is an X axis move on line 17, which moves X to +8.737, in the G54 coordinate system.

Try this:
1) Press F3/MDI
2) Enter "G54" and press Cycle Start
3) Verify that the top left corner of the screen says "WCS #1 (G54)"
4) Use your VCP controls to jog the X axis until the DRO reads +8.7370" or more.

Are you able to do that without going outside the travel limits of your machine?

How about moving the Y axis until the DRO reads +0.4500" or more?
