I believe you need to change your DB25 Pin assignments in the Wizard.
Acorn Axis 1 Lathe = Z
Acorn Axis 2 Lathe = X

Touch base with the guys at Sherline and ask if they have tested their drive box connected to one of their lathes with Centroid Acorn.

OMG! your right did not think of that, gunna need a 2nd DB25 cable unless the guys at Sherline have something up there sleeve! They have told me they are also currently working on Acorn stuff as well but at this point seams like I’m a bit further along with the chucker lathe than they are.

I will see what they say on this.

You can reassign pins in the CNC12 wizard, DB25 page to suit.

They are working on remapping the pins I hope they will be done today. At 1st Karl said it’s not a good idea, not sure why. I’m pretty sure it was before they even plugged the axis cables into Acorn on the Chucker lathe to then realize there is only one option to remap the pins. I’ve been waiting for them to get me settings on the Chucker since I stared the project.

Marty, Why isn’t there just a way to remap one axis for another in the Wizard? This must come up all the time. I realize the Acorn controller is designed to meet the needs of all kinds of CNC machines beyond only mills and lathes but seems to me it’s an obvious thing that should be in the software. Is it worth requesting it be added to Acorn/Wizard feature wishlist with Centroid?

Also question out of curiosity, is CNC retrofit your full time day job?

Thanks

There is, you can remap pins in the DB25 Section of the Wizard.
Make sure you have DB25 Port Selected
Then move the "Enable Custom DB25 Mapping Slider" to ON
Then you can remap pins that are remappable:

Yes I realize that the pins can be changed, what I was saying was why isn’t there a way to
Swap Axis 1 FOR axis 2 or 3 or 4 OR any combination necessary? To meet the need. Without repining?

With Lathe only,
Z is HARDCODED in the software to be Axis 1
X is HARDCODED in the software to be Axis 2
(Not currently a negotiable item, and Centroid is unlikely to change it because of the level of effort involved, normally is not a problem)

You can move the signals (NOT THE physical PINS) in the Wizard DB25 Remapping feature to control what drive you like. In this case, remap the step and direction signals to match the Sherline drive box so the correct motors turn when commanded by CNC12.
It's all software, no physical repinning or making a custom cable should be needed.

Hey Marty could you take a look at this post of mine and let me know if you think these solenoid valves would be a good option for Air and coolant? Smaller one for air and the round one for coolant.

And if you have info or a video on how to wire stuff up with them. I’ve been looking
