THANK YOU! For the videos!
In your videos, your machine needs to home to
Z+
Y+
X+

Your X soft limit is incorrect. It should be a NEGATIVE value
In the homing and travel screen, you need to change homing direction to a +M92 for Axis 1 (X)
You probably also have the X axis moving the wrong direction and need to change in the AXIS Configuration
Under X, change DIRECTION REVERSAL TO N

Mill:
X positive, the table moves to the LEFT
X negative, the table moves to the RIGHT
Y positive, the table moves toward you, away from the column
Y negative, the table moves away from you, toward the column
Z positive, the head moves UP
Z negative, the head moves DOWN

Lathe
Z negative, carriage moves TOWARD the headstock
Z positive, the carriage moves AWAY from the headstock
X negative, the cutter moves TOWARD the spindle centerline
X positive, the cutter moves AWAY from the spindle centerline

Tell us EXACTLY how your Estop button is wired.
Simply put. Estop NC, one wire to Acorn COM and one wire to Input 8.

Your problem as previously stated by others, is that you are tripping the ESTOP when your home switches trip. That is not supposed to happen. The Estop trip halts the control.

As was also stated. Do not mix the two machines. Get one going first then worry about the other.

You also still have MANY PC/MPU Resends. This must be corrected. You have noise that must be fixed.

Hey Guys,

Got all changes done as per your input from the last posts. Thing I’m not understanding is the settings I had been working with were provided by Sherline, so I need to get their input as to why some of the settings were incorrect? Maybe you guys can shed some light on that.

I rewired the E-Stop and limit/home switches as per the input, finally understand it now. I completely misunderstood the wiring diagram, drawing (S14954) as you all know. "Complete fail" on that, As I told you guys from my very 1st post electronics are not in my wheelhouse. I had the switches and estop wired all in one circuit. To me it LOOKS like all one connection/circuit in the drawing. The LINE between the limit all and home all limit switches are connected, SO to me the lamen it looks like all one connection/circuit. If someone can PLEASE clarify for me how to interpret the drawing and know these are 2 separate circuits PLEASE explain.

So now I have them wired as 2 circuits and everything is working as expected. Homing, and end of travel limits are set, dialed in and working at full jog speed. I also isolated all the switches for the mill only.

THANK YOU guys for the input and help, it was just what I needed to get over this hump. Going to work on the lathe today.

Marty thank you very much for the extra effort you put into helping everyone here, you are awesome, this site is lucky to have you! The info on homing direction and table moves was very helpful.

Shawm & Nigelo thanks for the input was just what I needed.

Here is a video of the machine homing, let me know if it looks right to you guys.

Homing looks good.
If lines on a schematic cross, but the intersection does not have a dot, they are not connected. Of there is a dot on the intersection lines they are connected.

Sometimes when not connected but they cross there is a loop on one line over the other to help denote they are not connected.

Those 2 points I was referring to do have a dot so to me looks like they are all connected as one circuit? E-Stop and all the limit/home switches? Did I use the wrong drawing for the way I needed to wire it?

That line goes to the COM terminal of the Acorn Power supply
COM---->LimitAll Switch
COM---->HomeAll Switch
COM---->Estop Switch

So the only thing they share is Acorn Power Supply COM. Which is required to trip the Acorn inputs.

On another note:
If you are still getting PC/MPU Errors, you must address that. Those resends have to go away.

The file is attached for everyone else's reference

Hey, guys,

So I'm on to the basic setup on my lathe now, I want to get the basic stuff configured then will deal with learning about the PC/MPU Errors. Don't even know what that means yet?. Going to read up on that tonight.

I think I'm getting a handle on the setup at this point. Here are some screenshots of my configuration and the lathe. So you can see the switches. I think I have everything configured correctly, but correct me if I have something wrong.

Something strange is going on with my Acorn input on the VCP I think?. When I hit Z+ or Z- on the VCP the X-axis moves
When I hit X+ or X- I get NO movement from that motor?

YES I checked that the correct cables are plugged into the correct motor on the machine. Checked them 2 times and traced them back to the driver's box to confirm I have the correct cables plugged in. And as you can see they are clearly marked. I also swapped cables to the motors to make sure the other motor is not dead on the lathe. Its good.

What do you guys think? Do I have something not set incorrectly or flipped somewhere? OR is something going on with CNC12 Lathe?

Does it have anything to do with the Circle with the arrows next to X on the WCS I have not seen that yet.

Here is a report as well.

You need to learn to look at your logs
F7 Utility, F9 Logs, F1 Errors. Currently there are no MPU/PC Resends in your lathe configuration. That's a good thing. That means there currently is no Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) noise. That's what you want. It also tells us that the PC and Acorn are communicating properly across the Ethernet connection. PC/MPU resends are generally the cause of not wiring your control cabinet properly. Using proper grounding techniques, or noisy VFD or spindle drives.

As for your motor drive problem, my guess is that the signals leaving Acorn via the DB25 do not properly match your drive box. STEP1/DIR1=Z axis, STEP2/DIR2=X

I asked Karl and John for a pinout for the cable on the drive box/cable. Do you have that information you can scan and post here? Or a link to it?
We shouldn't have to dig for it, that's your job :) when asking for help here you should provide all the documentation for your build.

Since your lathe is a gang tool machine, take the time to read through this post:

Here is the doc provided by Sherline for the pin out on the DB25 cable. The pin outs are the same for all Sherline machines or should I say for the Sherline 4 axis driver box. That was one of my 1st questions to Sherline (1box, both machines).

I am trying to give you all the docs when posting, as I learn all this, did not even think it might be a DB25 cable issue becouse it’s the same drive box for both machines .
