Heartbeats stop when starting CNC mill (Resolved)

Post by hreinertsen »

Hi.

For Controller Pc i use an Asus Ryzen 7 4700, 16gb ram and m2 disk. Clean OS with no bloatware and wifi disabled, same with firewall and antivirus.
Nothing is connected to the board except power as provided from Centroid.

I wish i could provide logs - but i cant, because CNC12 do not boot and i assume that application must fully start to provide logs..

In the link below i have (if done right) made some screenshots and a video available in case some wants to take a look at how i set things up, like static IP, that systems firewall is off and so the other security, and the fact that the heartbeat stops responding when i start CNC12 in the bootprosess.

If any seen this behaviour and have some tips to try, i would really be grateful to get pointed in any direction.

Not enough information.

It appears CNC12 is trying to do a firmware update.
Did you do a proper bench test?
Was the system ever working?

A this point I would unplug all connectors from Acorn except its power supply and ethernet cable and try and start CNC12
(Basic Bench Test)

Hi.

Yes i did perform a bench test and the card did boot and CNC12 did load on a machine that i borrowed in the wait for the rest of parts on my cnc to help me get started wire it up so i can get it ready to run while i waited for my asus nuc and rest of parts for the new cnc router to arrive.
That PC is restored back to its original purpose since i expected no issues in this manner. what so ever

I guess the card have been booted up around 15 times with no errors and i have not as far i can tell powered it down when save down from wizard.

At this point i had only had connected X axis as Estop and it have never been used since i have not got to the rest of axis or the spindle.
Both are disconnected and the video in my link display exactly how my bench test goes.

I also figured out that the card stalls when read the firmware and for some reason stops the connection in the middle of the process. I just don't understand how to get it any further since there nothing more to disconnect from the board.

The new machine have never started CNC12 and loose connection.
I do not know how the application could generate logs without be able to open itself up to see what its dealing with. For system logs i did not find anything at all related to this. I know its very little information to go on, but its all i got since the application never got as far creating logs and therefor the full video that display the process i try to explain, since a video tells more than im able to express.

I'm sorry for my poor english, but im from the other end of the world and have not used english much the last 10 years or so.

Its ok.
DO take the time to disconnect everything from Acorn EXCEPT power connector and ethernet connector. The green connector terminal blocks unplug from Acorn.

Then power up Acorn, then power up PC.
Start CNC12
See if it comes up OK and completes the firmware update process.
If it does, create a report. F7 Utility, F7 Create Report.

Let us know.

Thanks for your time Marty.

disconnected the DB25 and the relay board as well. I also posted a new picture of the whole board on the link provided earlier.

Same result as before Unfortunately.

In the video when CNC12 tells you it can not establish communication with Acorn PRESS ANY KEY TO EXIT, you don't do that, you tab over and try and restart.
Have you PRESSED any KEY to EXIT and then try and restart CNC12?

Yes i have. Problem is that on the acorn the heartbeat already stopped and the card have stopped respons to Ping the second it the card tells its rebooting.

When i try to start cnc12 again it waits for communication intil it tells me that it cant find anything since card have stopped responing for some reason and i do not find this easy to debug due lack of experience on this card.

Have you tried to so a complete UNINSTALL (Using Control Panel) and REINSTALL of the latest version of software, which is 4.64?
Clearly there is a heartbeat in your video when you power up Acorn on its own.
You ARE using the shielded ethernet cable that came with Acorn Correct?

Can you go into your computer, CNCM directory (Mill) or CNCT (Lathe) and then go to the REPORTBACKUP directory and see what the newest file is and post it here?

An update. The danish distributor is sending me a new card to connect. I suspect this is out of my league to find out for now anyway and after searching forum its at least not a common problem since i do not find anything close to this behaviour.
I got no logs to identify, and the only thing i am sure of is that the Firmware on the card that handle communications seems out of order.

Thanks Marty for your time, and thanks for all the videos you make and publish.
