Acorn connectivity issues

Hey- I got a acorn about 3 weeks ago and I have had the hardest time getting it to connect to my pc. When I first got it, It took me 4 days to get it to connect. I have gone step by step through Marty’s tutorials, read the PDFs, tried (4) different computers, different cables I’m not getting anywhere. I have sometimes been able to get it to connect by connecting a router to my ethernet port while I install the software (if I don’t connect the router, it never prompts to change the IP address) then plugging in the acorn. That works 1 out of 20 times. It will sometimes work, and I turn it off and then days of no connect. I can plug any ethernet device into every pc I have and get instant blinking transmit/receive lights by the connector- with the acorn I get nothing. I have all levels of firewall off, I have manually set the ip, I have a heartbeat always. Then randomly, i will turn it on and it works. I have WiFi and win10 updates currently turned off since I had it working for a few days. I bought a separate ethernet card- that didn’t help. Im assuming there is no warranty on these, can I should be able to buy a seeed card and program it?

Go back to basics with both PC and Acorn powered up and connected using a shielded ethernet cable as follows:

Type CMD in the search box and open a command window
At the command prompt type: ping 10.168.41.1 This will run a loopback to check your PC's IP address is correctly set.

If destination host unreachable is reported, you have your PC's IP address wrongly set possibly on Automatic. In that case go to Network and Internet settings and set the IP address manually to 10.168.41.1 and retest the above

Once you are successfully through the above, at the command propmpt type: ping 10.168.41.2 This will test the connection to the Acorn. If connection is successful then proceed with your installation. If not report back

Hope this helps

Yeah I have the ip set. I have been using the debug startup application that’s in the centroid file directory to ping.

Open a cmd prompt and type IPCONFIG /ALL and post the results here.

Please post a picture of your Acorn and associated wiring.
Please tell us about the PC
Are you using the shielded cable that came with Acorn?
Please post a fresh report F7 Utility, F7 Create Report
When installing CNC12, did you choose the correct ethernet card? Why did you have to manually set the IP address?
When it doesn't connect, do you check to see if the Beagle Bone Green Power light is on? heartbeat?

Please provide more information....
Marty

Hey- thanks for the quick reply’s. I’m at work, so I will have to provide ip config all results later tonight. I tried the cable that was included with acorn and a few other known good cat 8 cables I have (I use them for connecting data acquisition modules on my dynamometer). Tried to manually change the ip because when I install acorn software with the acorn hooked up, no ethernet connections show up in the auto configuration drop down (it just says “none”). I’m not sure how to do the f7 report if I have no connection. I am sure I’m connected to the right Ethernet port because it worked for a couple days this week (got the spindle and VFD bench tests done) and I turned it off and had no connection when I restarted it 30 minutes later. The beagle bone green has a heart beat every time I turn it on. I will post a picture of it sitting on my bench if you want. It’s not connected to anything other than my pc and the included power supply.

My computer is:
Dell 3847 Inspiron 3.2ghz, ssd hard drives, 12gb ram, clean win 10 install, firewalls off.

Thanks-

Try installing/reinstalling/updating the driver for the ethernet adapter.

When it is not working, check the Windows Device Manager to see what is listed under "Network adapters", and whether anything shows up under a generic heading ("Other devices"?), suggesting that Windows does not know what to do with it.

For the manual IP setting page, which ethernet adapter is that for? According to the ipconfig output, neither of your wired ethernet adapters are configured, snd your wireless adapter is using a local IP of 192.168.168.1.
