cnc12 free version z ref question

Post by kyanite »

Hello, I noticed that the free version only has center bore as a probe option. Is their no z ref? Its not clear to me if I use tool 3 as a probe if I will be able to use it to touch off the work piece.
I'm guessing I can still use Auto Tool Height Measurement to find the machine coordinate of the work without saving. Then manually jog and set g54?

sorry if this seems to be a very basic question

Part Setup (WCS) and Probe are two different things. The Probe menu measures features and reports on their size and location relative to the current WCS. The Pro version does have a single axis probe function, but that will just tell you the Z-height in the current WCS.

If you want to SET the Z height to the probe position, go to F1 Setup/F1 Part/F1 Next Axis until the Z azis is selected. Then hit F4 Auto.
Cheers,

Tom
