Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps (Resolved)
I am using C86ACCP to connect my Clearpath SDSK servos to my Acorn board. I have tried both hard and soft enable. All axis LEDs are green on the Acorn board and the LED on the AC86ACCP board is also green. All SDSK motors are flickering green. When I move the motors, the axis updates in CNC12, but the motors do not rotate.
I have reviewed martyscncgarage and followed his connection recommendations. I have EStop on IN8 and Fault on IN5. I have homeAll connected to IN1. I can move all motors with Teknics Software using USB connection.
I have tried loading CNC4PC "Report CNC4PC Mill Ver 4.50 with C86" and that didn't help. I setup everything with CNC12 wizard as shown by martyscncgarage and that didn't help. What am I missing?

John,
If you will post a report zip file then we can see all the settings in your setup. Without a report we would just be guessing!

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps
I had the exact same issue today!
If you havent done so already, Download the wiring schematic for teknic servos.
[Centroid home page -> DIY Acorn CNC Control -> Acorn Hookup schematics]
This will download a zip, the clearpath schematic PDF is toward the bottom.
What I am guessing you are missing (which is what I was) is that you have to connect a bunch of wires to the CNC4PC.
It sadly isnt just as simple as plugging it in. You have to wire up the 3 little terminal blocks on the board.
hope this helps

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps
Here is my report.zip as requested.
Here are pictures of my board settings:
I also captured the step and direction signals. I currently have P968 set to the default of 6 (200,000). Does this look correct to you?
I also noticed that the Axis Enable signal is set to 4.9V when I first press cycle_start, but reduces to 2.8V after a few seconds. Seems that Clearpath SDSK requires the enable voltage to be between 5V - 24V. I assume I don't have to add pullup resistors as this is already done on the C86ACCP? BTW, the negative terminal of the 470uF 50V was cut too short and was pulled out when I received the board. I pushed that pin back in and re-soldered. Voltage seems stable, so I think it is OK.Here are pictures of my board settings:

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps
Yep, I followed this schematic exactly. I have OUT1 connected to "Acorn Enable", 24V on "POWER" and "Active Fault" connected to IN5. I also have Inductive sensors connected via a relay board to IN1 for HomeAll and IN2 for LimitAll. My EStop is connected to IN8. I have a shielded Ethernet Cable and AN_OUT is connected via an isolation board to my PM-728V-T spindle control. OUT2 and OUT3 are for Spindle FWD and REV. Spindle works fine.rk9268vc wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 9:21 pm I had the exact same issue today!

As a last resort, I followed this youtube video. I did exactly what Marty did, his worked and mine did not.

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps
Hi Marty,
As I said, I followed your post exactly. I have subsequently removed the C86ACCP and wired the Clearpath SDSK directly to the Acorn board following the schematic S14972.r5.pdf and still I have no movement on the motors. I only have one axis connected, so I'm not using the relay board for the HLFB signal. I'm using 1K resistors to 5V with 10ft Teknic cables (CPM-CABLE-CTRL-MU120). I'm using the same power supply you are (IPC-5), but I'm not using the Power Hub. Instead, I have two motors connected to the one of the plugs (X and Y) and Z is connected to the other connector.

Hi John
I have the same setup but wired mine according to rev 2 on cnc4p website, these are my settings in the wizard if that helps , if not check theres no loose connection somewhere

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps
You didn't leave the Override inputs check in the MSP software did you?
Not sure if that's it, but I'll tell you that as long as you connected, set the jumpers, Have Output1 connected to C86ACCP and Output 1 configured as NoFault, it works.
You did not post photos of your wiring of C86ACCP so I can't comment on whether or not you had it wired right or not.
More photos (Information) will get you better suggestions.
If you were only testing one axis on C86ACCP did you move the Active Axis Jumpers to off on C86ACCP?

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps
It can be frustrating to have spent significant money and significant time setting up a controller and then not getting anything back. My configuration is a little different than yours. I use it on two systems. I have the previous version of C86ACCP board, but as far as I know, it works the same.
C86ACCP configuration
1. Active Axis jumper setting = OFF
2. Software enable jumper set to SOFT
3. +24VDC to 12/24 terminal block
4. GND to GND Terminal block
5. No_Fault factory jumper wire installed
6. Acorn enable jumper = ON
7. Active Fault terminal N/O connected to Acorn Input # 1 Drive_OK
8. Active Fault termianl COMMON connected to GND
Wizard configuration
- Axis Configuration, Steps/Revolution = 6400 (even though I'm using the RLN 800 steps per rev Clearpath)
- Direction Reversal = N
- Axis signal inversion NO boxes checked
- Step Rate = 400,000
Servo (Teknic MSP software configuration)
ClearPath CPM-SDSK-2321-RLN
- Input Resolution = 6,400
- Input Format = Step+Direction
- Homing = Disabled
- Profile Conversion = RAS 16ms
Those are my basic settings. When I start CNC12 software, I click on the Red Reset button then click the Green Cycle Start button. (The Acorn No_Fault output controls the Teknic IPC5 power supply through a contactor.) At that point the ClearPath servos show a green LED and I can use the virtual controls to move the motors or I can use MDI to test the motors.
- Mode = Step and Direction
- Advanced Configuration High-level Feedback = Servo On
