Minor typo on the top of page 83 first paragraph:

Now, if the current Overall Turns Ratio is 5.000 multiply by 1..000416 = 5.00208 this is the new value to enter in the Overall Turns Ratio field.

I know there are a few hybrid steppers that will hook to the headers but 9 out of 10 wire to the DB25. I see this topic is addressed on page 32 of your DRAFT and that might be a good place for this pic. This may come as a shock Keith but many don't read the manuals (or wiring diagrams) so a pic can be worth a thousand words.

I have noticed that digital stepper drivers can hook right up to the headers. I have DM556T on my AZYX4004 and they are going right off the headers. On my lathe and mill they are on the headers but they are hybrid.

in our experience stepper drives always seem to work better with less issues running off the DB25's 5vdc output so that is why we recommend hooking them up to the DB25. you can run some of them off the screw terminals but if you have issues we will tell you to hook them up to the DB25:-)

As Keith stated most all steppers should be hooked to the DB25, digital or not. Many try to hook steppers to the headers and don't use the proper current limiting resistors and it's not really a matter of if but when you might have issues of missed steps or other problems. There are very few exceptions but generally the best rule of thumb to follow is to hook stepper drives to the DB25 and servo drives to the headers per the Acorn manual.

I know that this has been released, but I recently had trouble setting up the DB9 port to be used with a glass scale on a manual Z axis quill of a knee mill. I see that the manual has info on using this port for a spindle encoder, but nothing on a manual scale. Maybe I missed it?

If you’ve seen my recent post, I was able to sort it out, but this would be a great addition to a future manual.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi Marty,

"We put a lot of thought, work and time into it."

This and the look and feel of Centroid ( like the professional CNCs I am working with ) was the reason to use Centroid for my hobby.

I am pretty sure there is no other DIY CNC stuff out there so well documentated and supported like Acorn.

Kind regards

Uwe
