I have already posted about my Xbox controller not working for the z axis , since I can't get any help on that does anyone know what SELECT_AN_AXIS means? That message pops up in the message box when I try to use the Xbox controller to jog z axis

It probably means that you are trying to use PLC logic that someone wrote years ago for a Contour "ShuttleXpress" device, with a different device which behaves differently.

The "ShuttleXpress" probably had just one pair of jog buttons and one handwheel, so the PLC logic would have to be given some indication of which axis you wanted to move before it could use buttons or handwheel to move an axis.

I dont understand why the x axis and the y axis works just fine ? I didn't write any code all I did was plugged in the game controller, so would this mean acorn has an old plc logic?

Suggest you spend the money on a Centroid Wireless MPG or use the Contour Shuttle Express.
Everything you are doing with an X Box controller is an experiment. (Did you search the forum for X Box? Someone might have done it)
If you can mimic keyboard Keystrokes to match the Centroid Hot Keys then perhaps you can make it work.
In my opinion, game controllers belong on Game consoles, not CNC machines.

I responded in your other thread, the controller works great if set up properly.

Properly???? I set up my controller to the tee as did rick and I am still getting this error , I guess to those who dont know the answer to a question the easy answer is to buy a CENTROID controller and I have as I stated in my other post this is a temp work around until it arrives, @ shawnM thanks for the leads you gave in the other post at least you tried

I just simply need to know what is causing this message . I know the x box controller is not a " professional" MPG pendent but not every one has 300 dollars lying around to throw on a accessory. In my case I was able to buy the wireless MPG but there will be someone down the road that encounters this issue and if I can get a fix and share it on the DIY forum maybe I can help someone out in the long run. The reason I got acorn because it is a DIY I enjoy solving problems like this all I need is a little help not suggestions to spend more money . If I could get some insight on why this code ( message ) shows up I could maybe back track and find the source to maybe apply a fix . Sorry for the vent I just hate when im told oh all you have to do is spend more money.
