I can answer the first question. The acorn has it's own software. Mach 3 is of no use with an acorn board.

Second question answer is you can do hardware paring with the free version. You need pro or ultimate to do software pairing.

Thanks for the replies you guys

What the difference between hardware and software pairing?

on mach3 i can slave my Y Axis with the Slave A axis

If i cant do that im going to return the boards

please let me know

adam

Unless i get the pro version for free im going to return my boards sadly

Not worth trying to get more money from me for simply slaving my Y Axis to the second a AXIS ON MY CNC ROUTER BUILD

misleading website for sure

your website needs updated

says whats included in the acorn package then to add the 4th axis i need to pay $160 more to slave the 4th axis

i thought the pro version was included and shouldnt be shown in the included list

its a nice board but im going to have to return it

Did you not read the last post? You can do hardware pairing with the "free" version of the software. You can wire the the Y axis with the A axis by wiring them to the same axis. The "free" version of the software is limited just like the "free" version of crappy, old Mach3. If you want to run larger CNC files you need to buy the pro version license of the software (just like Mach3). The "free" version of Mach3 is limited as is the "free" version of CNC12 from Centroid.

The website is not misleading at all, it's explained very clearly what you get for your money. If you have questions please ask.

The machines that I have retrofit have all had Mach3 on them and there is no comparison between the two. Mach3 is hobby grade at best and CNC12 is light years ahead of it. If you want a hardware AND software package (that's constantly improved) from the same company with outstanding support buy the Acorn. If you want to cobble together one companies hardware with another companies software that hasn't been updated since, well, the stone age (and never will be) keep running Mach3.

You are correct. Returning it and sticking with Mach3 is your best bet.

MACH3 is trash compared to Acorn. It will be the best $160 you ever spent.
