Is the drive in FAULT mode when you start CNC12 and Reset BUT do not press cycle start or do anything else?
OR
Does the drive fault as soon as you try and command a move, either via Cycle start to HOME, Jog, or command a move in MDI?

One or BOTH drives?

Try this,
Shut down, restart the control and drives.
Start CNC12
DO NOT HOME
Use the Jog buttons to jog ONE axis at a time.
If one axis faults, Power down and repeat but try the other axis.

Trying to find out if one or BOTH drives are faulting.

IF your drives and motors came with an Encoder extension cable, make sure you are using it.
Your picture of the drive powered does not show it faulted. Just a green LED.

When you power up the drive, it is assumed the motor rotor is LOCKED and holding.
You might temporarily disconnect the Enable wire until you get the motor moving too. (manual states that by default, the drives are ENABLED)

it work first day didn't change any thing wouldn't next day
yes go to move z + or z- motor only move about one step DRO keep moving and about .900 I get drive fault on CNC12 screen
light on driver box starts flashing 7 times
Yes I think I have driver set for 1600 steps sw1 on sw2 off sw3 on sw 4 on
I only have one axis it on z at this time
i start cnc12 press reset button press z+ or z- motor move one step I am using jog buttons

OK.
It looks like you have the dipswitch set correctly.
Are you using the encoder cable extension that came with the drive/motor?

Try swapping motor and drive with the other set you have not tested yet

Well, it would have helped if you had the second motor and drive to test with and eliminate that the drive/motor you have is bad or not.

Roughly where do you live? Maybe there is another Acorn user that can help.

The fact that you say one day it was running and the next day it was faulting (and you did nothing?) makes me suspect a faulty drive/motor.
