subject lathe is a 1988 Ikegai model Fx 20n, conpletely guted and retro with acorn,I'm useing dmm ac motors,as to the tool changer,it is a round 6 position mounted on the x axis ram and faces the operator, hydraulic driven pins lock it in place, this is activated by a 110 volt valve, pnp senser tells when the pins are ingaged or not ingaged, home switch is on the motor {ac servo] driven axle of the changer and the motor has a brake all control circuits and 24 volts and ran through 24 volt relays.some pictures if nessary

If you are using Acorn, its inputs require NPN sensors.
You COULD use an optocoupler relay board to convert the PNP (HIGH) signals to dry contact output to trip Acorn inputs.
Something like this:
NOYITO 4-Channel Relay Module 5V 12V 24V High Low Level Trigger With Optocoupler Isolation Relay Load AC 250V 10A DC 30V 10A (DC 5V, Red)
by NOYITO TECHNOLOGIES
Learn more:

You must figure out the COMPLETE Turret Sequence of operation. What kind of outputs does it use to provide tool position to the control?
Lots of work to do. I assume you got an Ether1616 board for more IO than Acorn 8/8 IO can provide?
